  1. Hey everyone, I haven't posted in awhile! I had a couple of questions about my 1979 DT 125. There are rumors that I can add a 175 head and pistons to a 125 to make the cc go up. Is this a possible thing to do? - Change cylinder head from a 125 to a 175? What does this take to do and will it kill the bike overall? Anything helps!! Cheers!
  2. Thank you DirtyDT i changed all the parts accordingly to what you have said, the bike runs great I went up to a size 130 on the main jet and a 27.5 on the pilot jet and it's working great! I will post pics to show the progress!
  3. Hey Everyone! Hope everyone had a good holiday! I have a 1979 Yamaha DT125 F and I am turning the bike into a cafe racer. To make it a cleaner look I want to take off the air box and put an air filter on the carbarator. My understanding is that I need to jet my carbs before doing this. How would I jet the carb specifically so I can have just an air filter instead of the air box? Any help on this would be greatly appricated! Cheers!
  4. Thank you Blackhat250 and Airhead, parts are ordered hopefully they will get here before Thanksgiving!
  5. Blackhat250: Thanks for the response! Do I need to replace the whole top end or just the cylinder head? And the lights don't blinker when the bikes on and it's a new battery I'm starting to think it is the flash relay.
  6. Sorry first time in a forum!!! Surfrat25 Today, 02:34 PM Hey everyone my name is AR! I'm excited I found a cool forum that can help me gain experience in bike building. I've always loved the old school look of cafe racers and the new school look of street tracker. So I finally gave in and bought my first little project bike about a month ago which is a 1979 Yamaha DT125. Looking forward to reading other peoples forums! Cheers!

  8. I have a running dt125 This is my first bike I have worked on and need some help. I am attempting to change the bike into a street tracker and want to find out a few things if possible. 1) any tricks I can do to the engine or bike to make it faster? 2) I want to take the air box and replace it with a cleaner looking air filter, can it be done? 3) I cannot get the turn signals to blink, they turn on when I turn the switch but only stay on and not blink.
