  1. Just started home brewing. First try was a tin one (sorry to the real brewers).
Basic cider but added honey and some strawberries from the garden. Ended up 23 litres of 7.35%. Having the lads round on Friday for a session with it.
Got a lager tin to try next. Gotta get the real kit and not just a plastic bucket.

  2. Thanks Guys.
I think Bike it will be the ones. Very few offer individual lessons now!!! It's a right bugger.
Will give them a call and get this sorted at last.

    Steph

Bike It in Paisley would be my recommendation. My son went through them and I found them to be very good at what they do. At the time it was £60 for a two hour lesson, using their bike so it may be cheaper on your own bike (he had his sr125 but didnt want to use that). I can state they are not rip off merchants and my evidence it this. My mate in work was doing direct access with them and although it was individual lessons he had booked, when the cost reached the amount an intensive course would have cost, his remaining lessons were free. Fair enough he only had 2 more lessons until his test but their honesty and integrity shone through.

I get this referendum shit every day up here, please leave it off the boards, pleeeaaassseee

I'm the same about this independence stuff. Completely sick of it and it's only going to get worse the closer it comes. Know people on both sides of the argument (and that's what it becomes most of the time....sigh!!!)

  3. Hey All,

After riding my brilliant wee 125 Dragstar for almost 2 years my CBT is up soon I'm considering moving on and finally getting my licence.
Can anyone recommend a good and inexpensive place to do my Direct Access with?
Need to get an idea of cost. If it's too expensive I'll just re-sit the CBT and save a bit longer.

    Cheers.

  4. Hey Guys,
The new charger showed no faults in the battery.
Doing a wee contra with a mechanic and he's away with the bike and will check that when sorting a few other wee things.
Be back on 2 wheel shortly my fat lazy ass does not like this walking nonsense.
    Thanks for the advice. :spin2:

  5. It's a 12v trickle charger. Ordered up a new Oxford 900 now.
I'll check for any faults. Thanks for the advice.

As it happens I just got a call off a mechanic asking for a van livery.
Will be offering a wee livery for a repair or two. Save me a few quid hopfully.

  6. Hey All,

I have a problem with my electrics / battery.
Every time I do anything near the rear lights my battery drains flat.
This time I was fitting a nice little rack to the back (fits to the same bolts as the lights).
Rack fitted and went to start and it was dead. It's a new Varta Gel battery and was pretty much charged (a couple of weeks back).

Sods law, I went to re-charge it and my charger was nacked so ordered up a new Oxford optimiser.

This has happened a few times.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

  7. Hey All.
Being an all year / all weather rider my bike is pretty much dirt encrusted all the time.
I clean it then a week later it's back to being a dirt ball.

This doesn't bother me at all but my front wheel rim is constantly getting rusted.
I've cleaned it back and ACF50'd it to an inch of it's life and 2 weeks later the rust has returned.
I can't afford to get it (and the spokes) re-chromed though.
I also tried a clear paint, WD40 Hammerited rust gel and more but they were crap from the word go.
It's kept in a bike barn overnight and I try to wipe it down but it's not the easiest thing when the rain is still hammering down as you park up for the night.

    Any suggestions?

  8. I use one on my XVS in the winter to take the edge off the chilly Scottish wind.
It does tend to take the wind from your body and direct the lot to the top of you head but it's better than freezing your ass off on the commute to work and back.

  9. Hey All.

I picked up a new top box for my 125 Dragstar and noticed that it had break & indicator lights.

The lights on my bike currently are just old fashioned bulbs.
Is there anything in particular I need to do to wire these up?

I'm not the best at techy stuff I admit.

    Cheers.

  10. Doing the run home and the back wheel started feeling a bit light.

Checked and low and behold a huge bloody nail in the back wheel.
Not that technically proficient yet so off to an expert to get it fixed (when I get time & cash).
Bloody training it again till then.....Moan over. :madflame:

How much do you think it would cost to get the puncture repaired?

It's an XVS 125 tubed wheel.
