  1. I'm a newbie so only Past Piaggio Liberty 50cc Suzuki Intruder VL125 Now Yamaha Dragstar XVS125
  2. Just started home brewing. First try was a tin one (sorry to the real brewers). Basic cider but added honey and some strawberries from the garden. Ended up 23 litres of 7.35%. Having the lads round on Friday for a session with it. Got a lager tin to try next. Gotta get the real kit and not just a plastic bucket.
  3. Thanks Guys. I think Bike it will be the ones. Very few offer individual lessons now!!! It's a right bugger. Will give them a call and get this sorted at last. I'm the same about this independence stuff. Completely sick of it and it's only going to get worse the closer it comes. Know people on both sides of the argument (and that's what it becomes most of the time....sigh!!!)
  4. Hey All, After riding my brilliant wee 125 Dragstar for almost 2 years my CBT is up soon I'm considering moving on and finally getting my licence. Can anyone recommend a good and inexpensive place to do my Direct Access with? Need to get an idea of cost. If it's too expensive I'll just re-sit the CBT and save a bit longer. Cheers.
  5. Hey Guys, The new charger showed no faults in the battery. Doing a wee contra with a mechanic and he's away with the bike and will check that when sorting a few other wee things. Be back on 2 wheel shortly my fat lazy ass does not like this walking nonsense. Thanks for the advice.
  6. It's a 12v trickle charger. Ordered up a new Oxford 900 now. I'll check for any faults. Thanks for the advice. As it happens I just got a call off a mechanic asking for a van livery. Will be offering a wee livery for a repair or two. Save me a few quid hopfully.
  7. Hey All, I have a problem with my electrics / battery. Every time I do anything near the rear lights my battery drains flat. This time I was fitting a nice little rack to the back (fits to the same bolts as the lights). Rack fitted and went to start and it was dead. It's a new Varta Gel battery and was pretty much charged (a couple of weeks back). Sods law, I went to re-charge it and my charger was nacked so ordered up a new Oxford optimiser. This has happened a few times. Any ideas? Cheers.
  8. Can you paint the wheels without removing them? Is this a short term gain with long term pain? Daft question but still a beginer
  9. Hey All. Being an all year / all weather rider my bike is pretty much dirt encrusted all the time. I clean it then a week later it's back to being a dirt ball. This doesn't bother me at all but my front wheel rim is constantly getting rusted. I've cleaned it back and ACF50'd it to an inch of it's life and 2 weeks later the rust has returned. I can't afford to get it (and the spokes) re-chromed though. I also tried a clear paint, WD40 Hammerited rust gel and more but they were crap from the word go. It's kept in a bike barn overnight and I try to wipe it down but it's not the easiest thing when the rain is still hammering down as you park up for the night. Any suggestions?
  10. First one (with the bombs) had me laughing (sick I know) but bloody hell those other ones....

    Fly screens

I use one on my XVS in the winter to take the edge off the chilly Scottish wind. It does tend to take the wind from your body and direct the lot to the top of you head but it's better than freezing your ass off on the commute to work and back.
  12. I'm having trouble finding the break return spring for my dragstar 125. First time I've had trouble getting a part. Just keep searching I guess.
  13. http://www.explosm.net/db/files/Comics/Rob/fattymcfatterson.png Basically anything from this site has made me laugh.
  14. I found I was more aware of the road after I started riding. Think it's true.
  15. I've only got wee short 30" legs and I can reach the pegs with my knees bent. Even with my back flush to my solo back rest I can also reach the bar with my elbow bent. Only the 125 but still!
  16. Nice one. I was wondering the same thing. Saw some nice hard panniers on ebay. Would be £180 cheaper if I got them from the US.
  17. Cheers Slice. I drive all weather so want to be seen during the cold (bloody freezing) nights.
  18. Hey All. I picked up a new top box for my 125 Dragstar and noticed that it had break & indicator lights. The lights on my bike currently are just old fashioned bulbs. Is there anything in particular I need to do to wire these up? I'm not the best at techy stuff I admit. Cheers.
  19. This thread is bloody brilliant. C'mon the Dragstar 125's!!!!!
  20. I had an old pretty much done battery and even though the lights would come on the bike wouldn't start. If I charged it it would then work. I believe the starter uses more power than the rest. New battery sorted it all out.
  21. Doing the run home and the back wheel started feeling a bit light. Checked and low and behold a huge bloody nail in the back wheel. Not that technically proficient yet so off to an expert to get it fixed (when I get time & cash). Bloody training it again till then.....Moan over. How much do you think it would cost to get the puncture repaired? It's an XVS 125 tubed wheel.
  22. Kalós órises Creteboy. Lucky man. Spent a while scooting about the mainland as an exchange student on a wee Piaggio during my late teens. Brilliant country, no wonder your still there after 4 years.
  23. Mine did it for a week or so then just stopped on it's own. Still don't know what caused it.
