  1. I believe it's a vacuum fuel tap. As you said Slice, it only lets fuel by when the engine is running. This type doesn't have reserve or prime positions it's just always on. Probably due to the small engine/carburettor size. Prime would flood the carb in two seconds.

  2. When I started riding on a little 50 scooter it developed a problem so I took it to my local bike shop. The guys in there all but laughed in my face for what I was riding. Now I ride a 1000cc V-twin but I wouldn't go back there if it was the last place to get spares.

  3. Firstly, sorry to hear you came off and I hope you're not too badly hurt.

    Secondly, if your crash helmet contacted the road in any way, replace it. Don't ever wear it again.

    Thirdly, hope the bike doesn't need too much in the way of repairs.

    Oh, and in case you missed the point, if you hit your crash helmet on the road, get a new one and throw the old one away.
