  1. It'll be no show bike thats for sure, I've not got the cash to throw at a full restoration, so the plan is just to tidy it up, ride it, and then tackle the expensive things a bit at a time - rebuild wheels, rebuild forks + rechrome stanchions, paint tinware etc. Thanks for the advice!
  2. Thanks Airhead, so, since the 74' DT's start AT2 103101 and mine is AT2 102238 I take it mine is a 1973 model, but not registered in the Uk until 1974? By the way, I made a mistake earlier when I mentioned the 'generator' only has 2 coils - well its in fact a flywheel magneto with just the 2 coils as apposed to all of the parts diagrams I've seen with 3 (one for source, 2 for lighting) My lighting coil is damaged and i searched for ages trying to find a part number of diagram which matches my magneto, but to no avail - eventually I brought one from e-bay US, on looks alone - sold as a HT1 lighting coil. It turned up today and seems the same dimensions so I'll give that a try. Next thing to order is a full engine gasket set - are they all the same for most of the 125 variations of this era? I might put a new set of rings on the piston which is 1mm over (unless anyone can point me in the direction of a reasonable 1.5mm piston kit), then it should be ok to fire up.
  3. Its in a few bits at the minute, sorry - any particular parts that will identify it? The bike is basically the same as the image below - same tank (colour and design) same exhaust, twin plug head, generator only has 2 larger coils (most of the parts diagrams I've seen have 3) - mudguards are missing, as is the seat Still a bit confused with the VIN's - if an AT2 Vin starts *AT1-000000* and a DT125 is *444-000* then what is my VIN - *AT2-102238* - is there a model in between?
  4. hello all, I'm Tom, Live in Northampton, England, recently managed to pick up a little 74' DT125 that needs a fair bit of TLC - hope to restore it to running condition in the next few months. I've got a few other bikes - mostly old brit stuff and I'm also into green laning.
  5. Hello everyone, I recently acquired a little 125 Yam here in the UK, in need of some restoration. It was sold as a 1974 DT125 and I have the registration papers which confirm it was registered in the UK on 4/7/74. However, after checking the matching engine and frame numbers I'm a little confused - Numbers are *AT2-102238* I've searched high and low online, but can't find any reference to yam models starting AT2 - obviously there is the AT2 model, but according to all online sources, their Vin should start AT1? Can anyone help me out and tell me what exactly I've got please? Many thanks Tom
