  1. Thanks for the quick reply mate! Will try that right now!
  2. Unfortunately got pulled over today whilst taking a pillion by the police because my indicators weren't working properly, apparently the back ones were dimming the brake light and were really dim.. Now they're not working at all! The only one that flashes properly is the right front one, left front one just stays light up and doesn't flash.. Is the battery just flat?? Please help!!
  3. Yeah I think there is actually, I'll check that out today. The main leak was from around the bottom of the engine and I found out yesterday that it was from the gear shaft so found a replacement seal for £4 on eBay, lucky! So jus need to sort this last little one out. Rather embarrassing when you whizz up to the lights and everyone's staring at you cos your engines smoking like a giant lump of charcoal!!
  4. Hi tommy, yeah that actually makes sense.. I think the rising of the steam makes it look like its coming from exhaust. Do You think I should just take it off, use a sealant, and then tightly put it back on?
  5. Basically, when riding my xt for more than 20-30 minutes, and especially at large dual carriageway speeds 50-55mph the engine smokes tremendously, this has been determined to be a small oil leak burning around/on the engine. The problem is... The smoke comes from around the top of the engine, near the exhaust gasket but for some reason a lot of the oil is found right at the bottom of the engine, it's hard to find the right source of the leak as it is but im 90% sure it's around the top, but could it really flow that far to the very bottom of the engine? I need advice, help!!
  6. Dented the left side panel the other day whilst riding and had a quick look for replacements online.. THEY GO FOR £60 +!!! criminal. But seems I have no other choice
  7. Passed its mot! And officially on the road. Took it out for ages yesterday and is great fun on back roads and dual carriage ways, albeit the suspension leaves a bit much to be desired for a trails bike! Rob, what source are you getting the specs from?
  8. Oh ok that's handy then, was very hard to find parts on eBay and stuff durin the rebuild so probably would've gone quicker if I knew that back then. Will keep you all posted on how the Mot goes.
  9. Cool! where the xl's 2 strokes or four? Yeah I know the top speed could be better and im not expecting too much cos it's a pretty heavy bloody bike as well so im quite pleased that its as quick off the line as it is! Does anyone know if there are any modern exhaust mods I could use on it?
  10. I'll check out that website tommy cheers! And will put some pics up of the bike now and how it did look before the restoration. Thanks for the replies, just got another query... Obviously this is subjective to each bike and relative to the quality of the parts etc, but how do you think it will handle on the motorway? Obviously I'm not talking tearing up the right hand lanes and constantly over taking but do you think it would be happy cruising in the left hand lane at around 60-65mph? Thanks guys!
  11. Just passed my a2 test the other day so i'll be on this beast for 2 years until I move up to a nice 500 or something, always been into classic bikes and this falled nicely under the temporary 33bhp limit! Got its MOT in a few days so havent had a chance to properly go on it yet, just up and down my road. Feels very punchy and for a 250 the torque is pretty fierce. Just wanted to know if any of you fine people have had any experiences with these before? either positive or negative! thanks.
