  1. cheers mate. apparantly they aren't selling much at all I wonder why. got sorted at HD Leeds & am picking up my new bike new saturday morning all being well (the bike is in the wharehouse in Belgium) can't wait.
  2. i used to deal with the previous incarnations of that dealer & am quite happy to buy off the "new" dealership,i know a couple of people who work there too. i'v really fallen for the new sportster 72 & am going to check it out tomorrow with a view to buying one. as for the Yam' i've given up on that for now but who knows if things don't work out at Leeds i may just check out Applyard's,one thing for certain though i'll not be buying from my local dealer who expect me to pay £6999.00 for a "new" bike that is really 2 years old, they refuse to move on the price too no wonder they aren't selling much. cheers
  3. unfortunately there's none that are particularly close, but i'm am very tempted to buy a Harley as I got a pretty decent offer from the dealer in Leeds yesterday & the wife just loves them, mind so do I as I have owned 4 H'D's previously.
  4. cheers chaps,my local dealer is quoting the full 2012 price for this bike, mind he's given me a very good trade in price for my GSR600 but i'm pretty sure i can push him a little more yet
  5. looks like i'm going to be buying myself a brand new Star but i have a minor question,it seems the 2011 & 2012 black bikes have a satin finish trims on the tank & rear fender + black fork bottoms, where as the one in the showroom has chrome trims with silver fork bottoms. i'm pretty sure this one is actually a 2010 model,am i right chaps ? if it is am i being reasonable expecting a discount since it's 2 years old really ? i'm not too bothered to be honest as i actually prefer the chrome trims anyway but i am a Yorkshire man & so tight as Moby Dick's ring piece.
  6. lol the cheek just spoke to my dealer who's measured the foot board gap for me & got it to 800mm ish, without folding them up, so looks like it will just go through my gate many thanks for the replies chaps
  7. thanks guys. I've just been remembering all the Yam's I've owned over the years,so just or a laugh here goes- RD125 - DT125 - TZR125 - TZR125R - SZR660 - YZF600 Thundercat - YZFR6 - XRJ1300SP - YZFR6R - YZFR1 -Fazer 1000 - XJR1300 - YZFR1 -XJR1300 (there's a pattern here) plus various other bikes,so why am i skint i wonder
  8. cheers guys,i have thought of widening the gate but that will entail knocking part of the wall down too which won't please the wife at all,you know how it is. i guess i'll just have to try it & see if not i can always dump the bike in my brothers garage until the gate's sorted, thanks for all the answers guys.
  9. hi guys i'm currently dealing with my local Yamaha stockist & may well be the proud owner of a lovely XVS950 in the next week or so,however in my exitement i forgot to measure the width accross the foot boards to make sure it will fit through my gate. Yam's website lists the bike as 1000mm wide which will be with the bars straight i'd presume, now the maximum width of my gate is 800mm so i'm wondering if the bike will fit through my gate,i'm not too worried about the bar width as with a bit of jiggling i'm sure they will go through however if the foot boards are wider than 800mm it will have no chance,i'll most likley burst into tears at that point. so to my question,do any of you guys manage to get your bike through a gate this size or does anyone have the correct width of the bike at the foot boards (i hope that makes sense ) thanks chaps Neil p.s. if it won't fit i have some stout rope & a short sharp drop lined up already p.p.s. i did manage to get my Suzuki M800Z through the same gate fairly easily.
  10. hi guys, just thought i'd say hello before i post anything else on the forum. i've been riding for the last 23 years & mostly on Yamaha's almost too many to count,i'm currently riding a Suzuki but am looking to get back into my Yam's. cheers Neil
