  1. Hi everyone i need a new rear tyre for my dt 125 re 2005 could anyone reccomend a good place to buy one from and also a good make ? many thanks
  2. check the generator housing (the round casing next to gear lever, take the casing off and inside you will see the generator) i had a similar problem there are 3 screws holding the housing in and they had come loose check for wear and if they have come loose use thread lock when you put them back in.... hope this helps
  3. i had already paid for the chain and sprocket set to be fitted,it was when i went to pick up the bike it would not start ! i had to leave it with them over the weekend and that is when they said the generator had failed.(apparently a common problem) the mechanic had told me after fitting the sprocket set (but before the bike would not start) that he had trouble getting the rubber guard out where the front sprocket sits, i reckon all the banging about trying to get this free was what caused them to break the generator. they are claiming no responsibilty and yamaha said they have no control over what garages do..... i suppose that gives the garage a licence to do whatever they like....... they charged me £195 to fix a problem i never had but what can i do ??? they got me by the balls FLITWICK MOTORCYCLES are C***S and thanks for nothing
  4. well this has been fun and games !!! i contacted yamaha about the problem and they asked me to get a detailed report of work from the garage who expected me to pay a £25 admin fee for the report! after a few rude e-mails they finally provided a copy of the company they used to re-wire my generator. they had tried to hide the price with a marker pen but it was easily seen, the price was £53 and they had charged me £80 on my reciept! the total bill was £195. i have contacted yamaha but have not yet had a reply........ the bike is 7 years old but has not even done 10,000 miles..... any advice on what to do next ?........
  5. a friend of mine had a major accident whilest riding under instruction during a cbt, who is responsible? the rider was a first time rider and was made to use a geared bike as no scooters where available, they had rode around the car park and had not had to change gear, when leaving the car park to ride out onto the road the accident happened. should the trainer be responsible for not noticing the rider was not ready? or is it just bad luck that the accident happened? any advice or whom to contact regarding this would be very greatful thank you
  6. yes it was working perfectly ! but the garage assured me that these things can just happen!!!! i reckon they have broken the kick stand cut off switch while changing the sprockets ?? and rather than own up and pay for the replacement they have just stung me for $175 to refurbish the generator.......but what can you do? other than take the bike to another garage? but then i will get charged again for the time they spend fault finding...... i am finding most motorcycle garages very hard to deal with and they are expensive at $50 an hour..... just seems odd it was completely fine for the 500 miles i have ridden it and then after they changed the sprockets it just would not start!!!!!
  7. I took my bike in for a chain and sprocket set change but when i went to pick the bike up it would not start! i left it with the garage and they said the CDI unit and generator etc was not giving any output, thus leaving me no choice but for them to send away the units for repair (something about re-wiring the generator/coil?) they said this happens on these machines ie: the units can just fail. It will be costing me £175 to get repaired has anyone else suffered from this on these bikes? Also i had done the "re-wire" from the speedometer to de-restrict it would that have caused the trouble? Any ideas/infomation would be much appreciated thank you
  8. have ordered a 19 front 55 rear will see if that works ?????

    MOT failiure

well what a bunch of arse !!!! i went to the manager to complain and they said they would have normally put the pin in for me but they were just to busy! i looked around to see five members of staff with their hands in their pockets doing sweet FA. i now have to wait for another week to re-mot. Flitwick motorcycles bedfordshire you are a buch of p***s

    MOT failiure

has anyone ever had an MOT faliure due to missing a split pin on the rear wheel locking nut??? are they taking the piss or is it really that important?
  12. thank you for your reply, i noticed that you can get 16-19 teeth front sprockets would a 19 tooth front sprocket be an easy way to fix my problem...?
  13. hi i have just done the speedometer re-wire job on my dt 125 re 2005 and it works lovely pulling better, more power at high revs and a top speed of 80+. this is of course much better but it gets a bit thrashed when reaching 70.would / could i upgrade the spocket set to improve perfomance at top end speed? ie: bigger front and rear sprocket set. any thoughts/info would be much appreciated thanks
