  1. Thanks for the info, Pete. I do intend to do an advance training at some stage, as I want to be as best a driver as I can. There are enough potential dangers on the road without creating some myself (both for my own safety and others').
  2. If you have an Android phone, I'd suggest you try the app to familiarise yourself with it.
  3. Nope, unless I'm missing something. You're not actually using the phone until you tell it to send you its location. So a £10 credit should hopefully last a very long time.
  4. P.S: gathered from a review on revzilla... http://www.revzilla....ine-2-st-helmet
  5. Will do. Keep in mind we probably have different headshapes.
  6. Thanks, fingers crossed. P.S: no need to apologise.
  7. Not only do I see what you did but I also wear glasses and you got me a bit worried. :/ Edit: ... because I bought one.
  8. Update: I've purchased a new Shark Evoline series 2 (matte black) from eBay for £199 inc. p&p.
  9. Hi all For those of you looking to buy a decent flip-up helmet there are some Shark Evoline series 2 on eBay at what I believe to be a good price: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/bikersbargains/_i.html?_nkw=evoline&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4634 That it all. (I'm neither the seller nor affiliated with him/her in any way)
  10. Hi all To those of you that might be interested in a cheap(ish) DIY GPS tracker. All it requires is an Android phone with GPS (even better with A-GPS) that would need to be hidden somewhere on your bike. A way to keep the phone powered 24/7 (12v to USB adapter). Android Lost, a free Android app (with a free online account). https://play.google....com.androidlost http://www.androidlost.com/ A "How-to" using a similar app called InstaMapper: http://www.instamapp.../diy.html#step4
  11. Thanks, guys. So, if I understand correctly, I would need: an Optimate/Accumate TM 71 (connected to the battery) an Optimate/Accumate TM 68 (connected to the TM 71) a USB charger adaptor (inserted into the TM 68) Is this correct? Thanks for the suggestion, Cynic, but the whole installation needs to be out of sight. I'm trying to make a cheap GPS tracker.
  12. Thank you all for the comments/suggestions, I appreciate it.
  13. Thanks, Paul. To be honest, my main goal is to lower the revs, any increase in speed is a bonus.
  14. Hi all In your experience, what would be the best way (kit?) to connect a smartphone to a bike's battery so as to charge it (the phone that is)? Thanks in advance.
  15. Hi all I was wondering what mods could be done to a bike (in my case an XVS 125) to increase its visibility? i.e, make it less likely that other drivers do not see it by by night and/or day. Please no "paint it fluorescent pink", "add huge laser beams..." jokes. I'm thinking mainly of spotlights (shame neon lights are not legal), cool looking reflectors and such.
  16. Sorry about the bike but glad to hear you're ok.
  17. Something I didn't think about: can I train for and take the DAS test with my 125cc?
  18. Hi all I've had a car driving license for 30 years and, after having purchased an XVS125, I'm after getting the bike one. Considering my two-wheels experience consists of riding mopeds when I was a teenager (I'm 48) and, once in a while, 50cc scooters since, what in your opinion is the best way to go about it? 1) CBT, getting some road experience, taking a few lessons at a later date then going for the DAS. 2) Getting a 4/5 days training package that includes CBT+DAS (+ test booking etc...). Thanks in advance
