  1. it doesnt have a battery and it never did its unfortuneately a NOT FOR ROAD USE model which means its really really hard to get them roadworthy
  2. hooray!!!!!! now you can completely disregard everything youve learned and have some fun !!!!!
  3. hey guys i need some opinions on whether this will work or not because i think i might have had a bit of a brainwave!!! my ty (very very very rotten) like most bikes depends on using the frame of the bike for an earth and it is a good way of doing it BUT in my bikes case, the last idiot who owned my bike (whom was VERY good at taking things apart but not so hot at putting back together) left my bikes loom dangling and left the exposed points where the components earthed to rot and and im now getting no end of grounding issues with the bike, with continuity through the frame being a bit of an skill to find on it, now heres my clever idea: bearing in mind my bike only needs a killswitch and a spark it means there is not a lot of wiring to the bike which makes this a lot less effort to do..... the tys cylinder head isnt deep in and you can actually take the sparkplug out with a spanner which means that for the most part where this plan would fall down on its face isnt a problem, Im thinking it might be possible to use some heavy guage 25 amp earthing wire to create an earth INDEPENDANT of the frame relying on crimp pins at the end of each lengh to join the components that atatch to the earth together and earthing the sparkplug by soldering a wire to a washer that goes onto the sparkplug that is then screwed into the engine. has anyone ever had a go at doing something similair to this before and had any luck? or will my half baked plan not work? sorry to bring crazy ramblings if this plan has got simple flaws in stuff im not familiar with ive been lucky with wiring on bikes up until now toby1a sorry to bring such drivel to the experts but
  4. ive not just got the only pinky in the entire of benbecula ive got the ONLY ty 250 pinky in the entire of lewis, harris, uists, barra that isnt forgotten about/ fossilised in a peat bog somewhere!!!! were a bit short on penguins as well. mostly puffins weve got
  5. come to south uist £1.68 for a litre of diesel and 1.45 for a litre of petrol!!!!!!!!!!
  6. hey black hat im on a wonderful scrap of nowhere named benbecula and for the most part your right TY250s had point ignition but that changed when the mono-shocks came out in the mid eighty's and the pinky that ive got came out towards the end of yamahas trials empire
  7. hello my names toby and ive recently started an bit of an overhaul on my very ratty ty250 pinky, which decide last week that it was officially dead after 19 years of abuse and salt air of the isles. So theres no doubt im gonna be on here a lot looking for bits or confirmation that bits of other bikes will work on it but the main reason im here is that i cant find the one bit that keeps my bike out of service: the cdi!!!! i was wondering if by any chance anyone knew of anywhere selling two stroke 250 cc cdis or has one for sale? that might work to get the engine going
