  1. Hi Clarkgray, quick update re the breath kits, it is now no longer obligatory to carry any but is recommended. Seems weird but then when its one of Sarkozy's mates has a factory that makes..........breath-test kits all becomes clear.
  2. From what I understand the law for the kits was scheduled for July last year but the 'period of grace' was extended to November due to supply problems, and I filched the triangle from my van when I sold it cos I had some auto-route riding to do, dont think its obligatory for two wheels. I bought the bike from a 'depôt vente' ie private sale but the bike was in the shop. After losing the bolts I returned to the dealer with my tale of woe and Michel the guv sourced 4 bolts for me fitted two (loctited) and put the other2 in my hand with a wry grin (Gratis but more to the point, not his responsibility) we stayed good buddies until he closed down last year, like a good few businesses round here.
  3. Yep got just about the same myself no helmet cover ? and a 'petit clé anglais' (little adjustable)..... plus 2 front engine bolts!! reason being the one and only time I had a technical stop (embarrassing effd-up gearchange/overtake/chain jump sprocket maneouvre) after refitting the chain I checked her over and there they were...gone??????? Sure they were there that morning, definately a pre-ride check now. Oh yea nearly forgot the obligatory breath test kits (2)
  4. Cheers John, I've looked into the power commander it looks a bit technical for me but will try and boff up a bit on it and see where I get. I cant believe how out of touch I am with the technical developments of bikes, need a degree of some sort nowadays before I start tinkering. Anyway, touch wood, the reliability factor is there now so I'll just enjoy the ride.
  5. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi, I'm a bit new to this but I've had a look round and it all seems quite civilised. I've been around bikes since the late '60s my first real bike was a James 250 Sports Superswift and then moved on to Bonnies and a Triton and then the same old story marriage and all that, just the odd small commuting honda but nothing for a while. Anyway I recently got an XT 660 R and well I'm impressed. Its the most comfortable machine I've ridden and suits me perfect. Ive got a couple of questions if someone can answer or advise, First can anyone recommend a suitable replacement chain and sprocket kit nothing too fancy or pricey (ub 40) I'm no boy racer and occasionally do a bit of green laning. Secondly any advice on smoothing out a bit the "surging injector problem" at low revs I seem to remember reading something about that somewhere. Anyway any thoughts appreciated, cheers
