  1. thank you! you were exactly right, although I found out too late that they are lock-tighted. One new heat gun and one new bolt later, I've got the bags off and the passenger pegs reinstalled. Another thing of note is that removing that mount moves the pegs back a couple of inches which moves my wife's knees a bit. She got used to it but was annoyed at first.
  2. I talked to a guy at a yamaha dealership (customer, not employee) who said to replace the "hall effect distributor". I've never heard of that and I couldn't find it in the parts manual. Is this something real?
  3. I have a 2009 V-Star 950 Tourer. I'd like to remove the bags but when I started doing so, I realized that the rear pegs bolt onto the bag mounting frame. There are no bolt holes in the bike frame to remount them to. Is there a conversion kit I could use so I could still have a passenger but be able to remove the bags if I want to? I had thought that they were simple bolt ons but it seems that the tourer is meant to be as-is forever. Any thoughts?
  4. hey guys, none of that worked. It doesn't seem to have any power to it at all. The battery is good, it's been tested. any more ideas?
  5. Mike, Enlisted Ranks in the US Navy are as follows" E1 - Seaman Recruit E2 - Seaman Apprentice E3 - Seaman E4 - Petty Officer 3rd Class E5 - Petty Officer 2nd Class (me) E6 - Petty Officer 1st Class E7 - Chief Petty Officer E8 - Senior Chief Petty Officer E9 - Master Chief Petty Officer
  6. I am a second class petty officer in the US Navy on a destroyer based out of Washington state. I learned to ride on a vstar 250 virago. I currently own a 74 enduro dt 125 and a vstar 950 tourer. the virago was sold back in november to step up to the 950. the enduro is kind of dead right now but i'm trying to fix it.
  7. I will check those tips sometime this week when I get over there. As for the new members bit, I'll go hunt that down and introduce myself. thanks
  8. Hey guys, I have a 74 Enduro DT125 in great shape except that I can't get it to start. When I first got it, it started and ran for a few weeks. After that, I couldn't get it to keep running without holding the throttle open. Then it started to redline without touching the throttle and I'd have to kill it. Now I can't get it to start. I haven't fiddled with anything but the choke. Any thoughts? Thanks (I'm in Everett WA, the bike is in Port Orchard, WA at a friend's place. Any experts nearby?)
