  1. shampoo for babies... I use it for my ski goggles and when I play paintball... 0 fog issues. I started using it on my motorcycle helmet and 0 fog issues as well. Also, no dangerous additives to worry about yellowing or making it brittle.
  2. Ordered new bars, CB style bars... 5" rise, 3" pull back. Redid most of the wiring, got rid of the Reserve Lighting unit. Ordered 1156 LED's for the blinkers and an electronic flasher unit. Ordered pod air filters to get rid of the box. Now I need to find a decent seat pan (Mine is rusted through is spots) or a decent seat. Got the clutch lever adjustment screw, new brake pads (Installed already) Need new copper washers and am going to do the brakes tomorrow (hopefully) Pulled the carbs and cleaned them. Learned a lot so far doing all this. I would've taken more pics, but most of the changes are things that you can't see (yet)
  3. http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/tech-corner/dim-headlight-on-a-1979-yamaha-xs750.aspx That explains it a bit.
  4. So, here is my xs750 special, the way it looked when I purchased it for $300. After a few days of staring at it and figuring out how things are attached and ran, I decided to tear it down and build it back up from scratch. Today, I broke it down as much as I was comfy with for 1 day. Here is where it stands now (Minus the handlebars)
  5. Hi everyone. My name is Noel, most people call me Noely (Since my username is almost always NoelyDeezNutz) I just started riding 2 months ago, purchased a brand new 09 Honda Rebel and have been putting miles on it like crazy (Almost 1,500) I am pretty mechanically inclined. I recently picked up a 1979 xs750 Special. The previous owner did a lot of his own work, and not a very good job with it. So I came here to seek the advice of people who know the bike better than I do. This is going to be my winter project, so I am trying to do ALL of the work myself. Use it as a learning experience as well as something that, when finished, I can be proud to say "I did everything you see"
  6. wow, I never would've thought it was so pronounced. (I'm new to bikes if you couldn't tell) Tore down the bike today, tank off, seat off, battery, wiring, carbs, airbox, handlebars/controls, headlight. The flasher relay is bad and the reserve lighting unit is bad. I want to totally bypass the reserve lighting unit, but I don't know how to do it... Anyone have any ideas?
  7. Really? I'll post pictures when I get back from work. It just seems like this was over exaggerated in terms of wear. I expect a slight wedge, but not like this.
  8. Brake calipers, is there any aftermarket that fit these bikes with no (or very minimal) modification? I noticed very uneven brake wear, so I'd like to put new parts on that to be safe, if possible.
  9. So I picked up this beast locally for a few hundred bucks. Overall in good shape, just needs a good cleaning and a thorough going over... This is the first bike that I will be attempting to do all the work on myself. I am very mechanically inclined and look at this as a fun project to get it in as good of shape as possible, by spending as little as possible on stupid things (Read as, mistakes) To start, I need to know if the clutch adjustment screw is universal, so far, everyone I asked, has no idea, so I come to you guys and gals. This bike was missing the whole screw assembly at the handlebar, so the clutch was useless to me. (Had to truck it home) The exhaust was drilled, which I hate (Can't stand loud bike) and the seat (King and queen seat I believe it's called?) has seen better days. I'm thinking of doing a cafe project with this one, so any tips/tricks/where to look, would be a GIGANTIC help.
