  1. Welcome. So glad i passed my test years ago, its all very confusing now.
  2. 4 new plugs and she fired up on the button. Has done since too. new silencers on order so should be back on the road soon
  3. If this is out of line or in the wrong section, please delete or move as apropriate. I have been struggling to source decent silencers for my 1983 XJ750RL. I eventually came across a web site, contacted them, very helpful, and recieved detailed drawings of available silencers. I matched mine, called him back and have ordered them £250 all in for the pair. if i am permitted the web site is www.brspecialtuning.co.uk If they're as good as they look I will be one very happy bunny. I have the pdf available if wanted by anyone.
  4. Good point. If I can get her running, then a trip out will be on the cards
  5. Since buying my XJ750RL last weekend I have made a point of starting it everyday because I love the sound she makes. Today has been really busy so I didn't get to her till after dark and boy is she in a strop. She would not start. Choke, no choke, various amounts of throttle. Then enormous bang, large flash and a gigantic hole in one of the silencers. Any clues as to why she wont start. If i get chance tomorrow i will pull the plugs out to check that shes firing.
  6. Thank you, there is a site glass and good advice is dont tinker with your new toy in the dark.
  7. No not me (yet) Having so far been unable to source a service manual for my XJ750, can someone tell me how to check the oil level please. I have unscrewed the cover but there is no dipstck attached. From what i can see, this is the norm, so how is the level checked? The engine seems quite hot after only a few minutes running so i have decided not to fire her up again till I have checked the level or maybe even changed the oil and filter.
  8. Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies. American bile everything is the wrong way around. The locks on their nearside our offside and the clips push forwards. Obviously just put on the oppaiste sides which has reversed everything. Now wish i hadn't opened it as the electrics have been messed with. Additional fuses outside the fuse box held together with tape. Fun times ahead. Thanks again
  9. typo sorry, should read JYA44X00XEA000583

  12. Hi All, I'm Jerry from Chester UK. Picked up my 1984 XJ750 today. I believe that its an R model, an import from either USA or Canada, so getting parts is going to be dificult. Any help or advice along these lines would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to chatting to some of you soon. Thanks
