  1. deffo got my aye on a xjr1300 im in love . .
  2. the quotes were welll over £1500! if i had that kinda money id be laughing, but unfort i dont. my old man got a quote for the same bike, with his 40+ years experience and no claims - less than £200 . . i cant wait to rack up some decent nvb and expereince numbers for myself!
  3. thanks! i have started a new piggy bank for my next ride. . . something like this would do me just fine! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201304296504637/sort/recpriceascdefault/usedbikes/model/xjr/make/yamaha/page/1/postcode/ab252tj/quicksearch/true/radius/1500?logcode=p really like the MT-01, but a1700cc block doesnt go well with a 19 year old for insurance!
  4. sad times, after getting a bargain on a sv650s i put my xj600n up for sale, yesterday she moved on to her new owener. . . sad to see my first big bike go :-/ never mind, it wont be long till im getting my next yammy! really fancy the xjr1300 . . . untill then i will probs be still on the forum, but maybee not as much. thanks for all the help ive had since joining with regards to my xj
  5. true, will rename it to make it scotland! sure theres plenty of scots on here, and probhably a simial site for the english fowks?
  6. Came across this company when i was in my local bike shop, and there was people talking about uninsured losses (excess) www.motorcycle-lep.co.uk its free to register, and if your in a non fault accident they will recover your costs. There number is 0800 089 2289 and once registerd on there site you just phone them if your involved in an accident. I am not affiliated with the company other than just being registered myself, but think its well worth it as its free and not everyone gets legal cover with there insurance
  7. yeah thats what i thought! they later clairified that they meant pulled in as in to cover the hole, not actually liittle bits coming off and getting sucked into the block
  8. Cheers! i thought it was the rear one, but the more and more i read itno it it sounds like its the front thats more prone, i will check these things later on tonight. someone at my work mentioned to me that they had one that was running like shit, and as soon as they took the foam padding off the underside of the tank it ran a treat? apparently its a usual thing for this to be sucked into the top of the filter
  9. Appologies, i thought it would be a bit cheeky to put i question about a suzuki in the yamaha clubs technical section - is there a way i can move it?
  10. so, not a yamaha, but its still worth asking as all you people are extremely heplfull! basically, the SV i bought is running fine, up untill about 4500-5000rpm, and the one of the cylinders cut out. there was a heap of water in the tank, but thats been drained/cleaned along with all the lines and the carbs, anyone got any ideas as to what to check next? was planning using it this week but since its nae got the same reliability as my yamaha, i decided to take my *caugh* trusty xj *cough* instead. Cheers. Matt
  11. Hello, so as you's may have seen i recently baught a suzuki SV650s, and because of this its time for my 1997 Xj600n to move on, have given her the usual spit n shine, and chorome polish ect, but does anyone know of any good products the take some of the corrision off the engine? also, what other tips do people have for cleaning the bike, and making it as nice as possable i used to clean and polish every weekend, but i've been a bit distracted lately and shes been slightly neglected. Thanks! Matt
  12. im currently lookin for insurance for my SV650, when i put it into go compare, it was 270 FC with £200 excess, that was from wicked quotes ( who my xj is with ) when i phoned to enquire about swithich they said it would only cost the £25 admin fee - meeaning it wud have been £152 ( the price for my xj) dont understand why there is such a difference when its the same insurer, and my details are the same!
  13. im not i just cant wait for some decent weather, so me and dad can take all out bikes out for a group photo haha
  14. well, for £200 i was expecting it to be a basket! but its not bad, photos dont show the damage on the fairings, will get some this weekend and see what yous think for repairing/painting. but yeah, chuffed to bits with it! got a battery and oil on order, one plug was black, the other was perfect so i might get the ol' vacuam guages out, but other than that shes lovely not a fann of the curvy fairings as such, but they are growing on me!
  15. haha, i was thinking the same! old man came with me to see it expecting a basket case, but shes nice! bit of damage to the fairings, but nothing to major, deffo going to get crash bungs for it like, for all they cost its deffo cheaper than buying new plastics! managed to get her running aswell, drained the questionable fuel ( it was red??) out the tank and flushed the lines, then after a bit of caughing and spluttering she burst into life! with 2 foot flames coming out the exhaust . . may have flooded it! haha the exhaust is next to brand new, i deffo got a bargain!
  16. hello! so i picked up a new bike today, been sat for 2 years, and has cosmetic damage - but other than that i got a hell of a bargain! what you think?
  17. wish it was sunday so i could see this bike! #childatchristmasexcitement

  18. so looks like i am getting it then! haha, will probs do me for another year, maybee. . . been wanting a new bike, maybe the change is all i need! more power and faster than my xj . . .but not a yammy :/ i'll look stupid wearing my YOC T-Shirt now , will post some pics when i get her
  19. not sure if this should be here, or in the general section, so feel free to move it! at the weekend i was in my old work, when one of the wifeys grabbed me asking if i know anyone looking for a cheap bike/project, as my ears tingled, she went onto explain that when her hubby moved away he left her his 1999 Suzuki SV650, and shes needing to move it on. its been sat for 2 years, combination of inside, and outside under tarp, and has damaged fairings from a drop. (not a crash, i know cos i helped her get it back up about a year ago). So chances are the batttery will be knacked, the tires will be flat/perished and the fuel/oil will need changing, but shes only looking for 200 for it, whats everyones opinions, worth it? could potentiall be another suzuki out of harms way, for another rider to get a yammy instead! haha, it would just be a cheep run about, untill i buy a new bike later on this year. Anything i should look out for? Thanks!
  20. seen an oppertunity, had to take it!

  23. Hello, i have just got my yammy back on the road after a similar problem, what it turned out to be was one of the bushings in the starter motor not being fully out, ( had sprung in, but not returned) this may be a possable problem? Regards, Matt
  24. i have contacted my insurance, with all the details and the other drivers, i got a quote of £1200 to fix my car as it it has structural damage, and i didnt notice untill the garage pullet up my boot carpet - and what i mess the crumple zone was! waiting to hear back from my insurance as to when they are goign to pick it up for a assessment.
