  1. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Otherwise, it will be broke...

  2. Hey guys, So I was riding my AT1 today and I noticed my back brake had some travel I wanted to eliminate (The bike has drum brakes, by the way.) I tightened it WAY too much, but seemed to work ok until I went to slow to pull into my driveway. I hit the back brake with normal pressure and the wheel completely locked. I got it to unlock and adjusted the brake out until the bike moved freely again and took another test ride. Whenever I would slow to come into a stop, the back wheel would lock. Ok, easy fix, just adjust it out more, right? Apparently wrong. I have it currently adjusted out so that it doesn't lock when you hit the brake at normal pressure, but the brakes drag. There's not much more room to adjust it out more, and I'm afraid to ride it far for fear of wearing out the brakes. What did I do wrong and how can I fix it?
  3. I now have my own bedroom, with a giant closet, two windows, and a fan. Life just got much easier...

  4. Komm, Susser Tod...

  5. I want chinese dumplings.

  6. Thanks! I'll clear that up soon.
  7. The bike runs fine in neutral, but there is some immediate grab when you put it in first. After that post I made this afternoon, I went out and ran a few laps up and down my driveway, in 1st and low 2nd under 15 mph, and it seemed to be as normal. Maybe some water entered the system when I washed it last night?
  8. Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the symptoms of a slipping clutch are and how to adjust it? I took my bike for a short, 3 mile ride yesterday and it seemed to be working fine, but when I fired it up today, it had some difficulty idleing in gear and was very unresponsive - almost as if it wasn't getting enough gas. Is this a clutch or carb issue? What are some steps to correct it? Thanks!
  9. When I tell people I ride an AT1, many respond with "I remember those! I learned to ride on one!" Seems everyone had one, and everyone liked them. Did any of you fellow Yamaha die-hards have one? What did you think? Maybe you have a funny story, or a good (or bad) memory associated with it - either way, I'd like to hear it. Thanks! Nacho
  10. You do it to yourself, you do, and that's what really hurts.

  11. Hello, My name is Nacho and I just got my first bike - a 1969 AT1. Needs minor cosmetic work, but it is a real cherry. Actually, while I'm introducing myself, I may as well ask a question to some people with expertise. The manufacturer's label on the front of the frame says that my bike was made in '69, but the serial numbers on the engine and frame go to the 1970 model and it's painted Performance Yellow like the '70 models (it had been painted, but that's the color it was when the original owner purchased it). Can anyone explain why that may be? Thanks, and it's great to be a member!
