  1. Sounds like a battery issue to me. I have had the same problem before.
  2. thanks for the idea - I will do this for sure. I never thought about checking the ground wires for the lights themselves.
  3. Hi, I'm looking for some possible causes of why my signals work perfect sometimes then sometimes dont work at all, or need to be held in the direction i am going to stay blinking. I just replaced the signal unit this morning after ordering a new/used one off ebay and it is still doing the exact same thing. the bulbs look great also. could it be something with the ignition? anyways, if anyone has had a similar issue or can just think of a possible cause i would appreciate any guess. thanks alot!
  4. Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought my first street bike, a 1983 Yamaha Maxim xs400. Needs a little loving but so far I put a few hundred km (ontario canada - we use km!) on it without any major issues. I am enjoying myself greatly so far, its quite a rush. I have had plenty of dirt bikes as a kid and still enjoy my atv but the bike is a fantastic get up and go vehicle. I thought I should join the forum to help me learn more about my bike and get any tips that may improve my abilites to do self repairs. I prefer to fix things myself when ever possible. Anyways - Hello and go Yamaha!
  5. thanks for the reply, very helpful!
  6. Hi, was wondering if someone could answer a couple questions for me. 1. Do i drain the oil where the oil filter is or is it another nut? 2 How much oil? and why no dipstick? 3. Under foot shift small hole that in unthreaded and I can reach up into, what the heck is that? is it missing a plug? thanks very much to anyone who can respond!
