  1. So, I took the pads out of the R6 earlier, to grease up the slide pin and piston faces etc before winter as I use it year round.

The front pads are looking quite a bit worn and battered now, what pads do people recommend? I don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of cash, and the bike is only used on the road.

I usually go for EBC HH, then again last time I went for Goldfren Ceramic Carbon and they feel pretty good.

  2. I've had a quick look around and they seem to be going for good money, depending on the overall condition, extras and service history of your bike you should be able to get around £2500, i'll be seling my as well soon, down side to my is 31k miles on the clock. Good luck with the sell.

  3. Hi all :) just wondering if anybody knows the torque settings for the rear wheel spindle nut on a 07 plate R6??? Cheers

    Here you go.

    110 Nm (11.0 m·kg, 80 ft·lb)

  4. Hi I went for a short run out today visiting friends about 30 miles round trip all was well bike running good, lovely weather pulled into the drive back at home looked at bike no numberplate or metal bracket, I could have sworn it was on secure but as the bike was never out of my sight I can only assume it just fell off & for xx amount of miles i'm riding without & I am wondering how would I stand if i'd been pulled any excuses or is there a fixed penalty ?

Happened to me on the car few years back, got pulled on the way home, the cop was cool, I’ve explained the plate was on the car in the morning on the way to work, and it couldn't have been stolen as the car is in a very secure car park during work, he was cool and after checking me and the car on the system he let me go on my way, I got the plate the same day to avoid any problems.

I'm not sure if you can get points for it, I think they could give you a £30 to pay and gave you a producer, which means you would have to MOT the bike and then take the paper work to your local police station to show you've done it.

  5. cool, yours looks gd. love your blueflame can! i need a steering damper and a new front tyre. would love some better mirrors 2 as u cant see a thing!

Thanks mate, a steering damper is a must on these, it will transform the way the bike handles, I’ve been using Michelin 2ct on my since they came out and I’m very happy with them.

  6. well its got just over 40.000 full service history, i ride it to work and have been all over the UK on it. about 4000 miles a year. Im thinking of getting the wheels painted gold like the SP R1.

Nice, i've got just over 30k miles on my, and still running very well, gold would look good on it :D

  7. Hi Guys,

Just purchased a 98 R1. The brake lights are working when the front brakes are applied but not when I am applying the rears. Any ideas and could I repair this fault myself..

    Thanks in advance....

Most common fault in this case is the rear brake switch, you'll find it on the right foot peg, you can go and buy a new one, (not expensive) or you can take it off, take it apart, clean it inside, and put it back together, making sure there is a good clean contact patch inside, I do that to my at least once a year, for some reason they are crap, I gave up buying them few years ago, as they keep dieing, it's a quick and easy job, so give it a go.

    Hope it helps.

  8. Hi, to be honest I wouldn’t do it,it has been crashed, it has no service, and less then half of the MOTS, and it has high miles, too many un knows in my opinion, you’re getting your self in to a lot of trouble with it, I would stay away from it, but that’s just me.

Having looked very briefly on the prices, a well looked after 1999-2000 SV650 can go for around 2k, and mint R6 with low miles goes for about 2.5k, have a good long think about it.

e.g, have a look at those.

  9. hi folks this weather is great. the question is this what helmet should i buy for my first one ie make, spec, price.what should i go for/stay away from ie make. cheers for help. ps my mate gave me a souomy helmet till i pass my das(module one this sunday) cheers again friedegg

how much is your head worth to you, buy the most expensive one you can afford, the price makes a difference, go for Shoei or Arai, I had a Shoei RX1000 and crashed not so long ago, I landed on my head hard, and I must say it’s done a great job.

Try as many as possible on, the right fit is important, new helmet should be tight on your head, almost too tight at the begging, it will wear in and mold to your head for a perfect fit.

    hope that helps.

  10. What’s wrong with people now days, I’ve crashed my bike last week on the way to work, there was a lovely fresh gravel on a corner and it was too late to do anything, front wheel lost grip and I went flying down the road across two lanes of traffic on my head and shoulder, luckily the bike survived very well, and my leather and helmet did their part, but the point of this post is NOT ONE F…..ing person even got out of their car to see if I was still alive and needed any help, they just sat in their f….ing cars looking at me crawling around on the ground trying to pick my self and bike. I mean come on!!!!!!! Are we all so heartless now days?!?!?!?!?!

Runt over, needed to vent!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for listening and ride safe.

  11. Just been out for another ride during my lunch break, noise is still present, however, if i have over adjusted my chain could this be the problem as i have just noticed that my chain seams to have gone tight from when i checked the adjustment yesterday?

Loosen the chain a bit and take it for a ride again, for some reason I get the same on my R1, if the tension isn’t just right I can hear this weird noise, make sure the chain is lubricated as well. Hope this helps.

  12. hi all, most of us at some time or another has had a seized up chain, :( sadly through lack of use my chain has become some what seized and i was wondering whether anybody had found a good way to free of this semi seized chain of mine ... there are several links that are shall i say very tight and dont move easily so if anyone has any thoughts or hints on the matter please let me know, thanks dave.

Time for a new chain, if it snaps it can do a lot of damage to you and your bike, I wouldn’t risk it.

  13. Hi all, I have a problem with my throttle on my 125. It's only got 700 miles on it. When it's hot it idles great. As soon as I twist the throttle it dips before going up, but if I put the choke half on the idle is low but it doesn't dip. Any help appreciated.

If it's a new bike then take it back and get the dealer to have a look, if it's used then it depends on the age of the bike, if it's a couple of years old and only has 700 miles on it, then it may need a small engine strip and clean, need more info on the bike.

Start with the simple things, new filter and plugs, also check the condition of your spark plugs, it will give you an idea if the engine is running ok.
