  1. The kill switch would kill the engine completely and would stop it restarting so what you may have found is that the engine was trying to tick over but the kill switch wouldnt let it! What troubles you have with your first R6???
  2. whats worse is that i knew it had a neon tube in it! lol. Well that certainly clears that one up, finally! lol. Bit steep price for it too!!!
  3. ahhhh thats what it is?!?!? I didnt think that looked like a tax disc holder at all!!!! What are the 2 12v wires coming from the holder then???? As for the can mines the race can and cost me £190 on ebay ex p+p so i'd expect to pay a bit more as its got the removeable baffle and is stamped. Definately go for akrapovic if youve got the money as i was worried but would never look back on the purchase!
  4. only advise is take it easy and enjoy it!! You have some amazing roads at your disposal and ive heard the earlier R6's can bite a bit more than the later versions. Steering dampers are useful at higher speeds as they can be a bit twitchy and ive heard power commanders can smooth the flat spot upto about 8k a bit. Other than that ride safe and enjoy it! Sorry if im teaching granny to suck eggs, i unfortunately dont know too much about the R6 specifically!

    decals

i was recommended to try www.motorbike-graphics.co.uk They do a few nice replica stock and race kits!
  6. Welcome and good luck for the DAS, take care on the bike and it will reward you with miles of enjoyable riding!
  7. ahhh ok so it might be better just to stick with the normal pilot power may be best! I am not sure on the wear rate, i shall tell you when ive got through it! lol I would imagine anywhere in the region of 3-5k a rear.
  8. i must say i prefer the look of the double bubble yamaha racing screen but thats personal preference. I think they are £70 from memory too!!! As for cans, AKRAPOVIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats what ive got and i never regretted it! I know they are silly money but sounds the nuts and looks cool too! If you dont want to splash that much cash look for Micron, Scorpion, Remus and carbon can co, ive been told its best to steer clear of some cans like fuel and ART. Think its personal preference though!
  9. Very nice bike to choose!!!! I must admit if i could i would have gone for the model with the USD forks etc but either way they are lovely bikes and great fun down country lanes or on a commuter blast!!! Have fun and ride safe!!!
  10. hahaha, Ive heard that they are superb for lean angle due to the profile of the rear!! I cant wait to get mine on and get it worn in!!! Does anyone know if the 2CT are harder in the middle to stop the squaring or not?
  11. Yeah thats got a tail tidy on and i can see a slight prob with the indicators that the stalks are not really long enough to get past the plate! lol Looks good though! I was thinking about doing a track day myself as per the thread in the trackday area. Stuee-s do you do that sort of mileage on the R6??? Thats what im probably going to do on mine if im not careful, its just ticked over 10,500 and it was on 1,900 when i got it last nov/dec!!!! I cant help it though!!!
  12. Dont get on with the dunlops that they fit to the R6 as standard as they square off in no time and dont give too much back in return for mileage either. Going for Pilot Powers as fitted a front and its superb and the rear is going on hopefully this weekend or next! I think about 3-5k is the most you can expect from a tyre especially if you give it a bit of stick every now and then! lol
  13. I would worry more about the time if the bike has sat still for a long time but it should still be shown to have had a service at 3100miles regardless of mileage or time!!!!! I noticed that the mini indicators had been fitted so i guess its a new one of them for you then!!! Screens are readily avaliable on Ebay alternatively get a yamaha racing double bubble one from any yamaha dealer brand new for £70! Has the back end got a tail tidy on then to cope with the smaller indicators??? Just interested to see if it had what it looked like! That seems like the higher end of the price to pay for one as a new R6 is about £7500 from memory but very true, lets not dwell on the small things, just worry about getting out on it and giving it a bit of stick!!!!
  14. I agree, with Stuee-s, thats something that they really should have sorted before your purchase however with regards to the service if it is something that they should have done before you picking it up then go back and see about getting the book stamped as it should have been done!!! The screen is not a great cost and to be fair you might want a double bubble on it before long, but i am surprised about the rear indicator? Has it been dropped or crashed?!?! Matt
  15. Muzz when you get home try and trace those wires and i would hazzard a guess that when attached it glows red. I am not sure why it has been placed there and how it is turned on and or off but i guess thats what it is! My previous life now coming into some use! lol. Also with reference to the V shaped bit of fairing covering the downpipes have a look at the pics of my bike and you can see the bit i mean! its a bit hard to see as it is black on mine too but it gives you an idea of what your looking for! And if it has had a service yes the book should be stamped but i would query that with the dealer as mine was serviced and stamped before i rode it out the showroom!
  16. looks a bit like a 12v neon bar!!! lol Very much doubt it is though!! lol Ive been looking on google to try and find pics to see about that bit of V shaped fairing and i cant see properly if it is there or not?!?! Anyone else with an 05 model able to help on this one?!?!

    Import R1

I think there is also a slightly higher insurance premium with import bikes too. I agree with tont2002 as the US do get some very nice colour schemes!!!!
  19. I must admit watching the GP this past weekend really shows how well Rossi is riding as the bike lacks the power of the other bikes which was visable down the straights but to keep the pressure on and save his tyres like he did was sheer champion material. It was noticable that a few riders were suffering with the tyres by the end of the race where Rossi was still just about spot on! I must say Stoner has been nothing but awesome this year and has shown that you can push Rossi and see some awesome racing!!! Roll on Donington, i think if i was a betting man i might be putting some money on Rossi for this one as long as he can pull out a bit of speed down the straights.
  20. I didnt know if the revamp 05 model had it or not as i know my 04 model does but thought i'd check!
  21. How was the ride then?!?! lol Just looking at your pics, are you missing a piece of fairing that goes in front of the manifold or are my eyes going funny?!?!
  22. Yeah i would never not have a matching set if i can help it it was unfortunate that the tyres wore at different rates! I checked it last night and i think that the rear is definately on the way out, i think a new tyre is going to be on order tomorrow for me along with a few other bits to spruce up the look of the R6 a bit! Anybody tried Bridgestones???
  23. Thats about what ive got from the Dunlop and they are squaring off really badly from the dual carriage way miles!! Thats why i think the 2CT might really be benificial!
  24. Cheers Steve, i am looking forward to getting the rear and might have to aid its arrival by smoking more than a 20pack! lol On serious note though what sort of mileage did you get out the michelins??
