  1. Ok I am in the beginning of the build of my 1979 XS400. I am in the stage where I am cleaning things out and trying to start it. My problem is that I cannot get the darn seat to open! I see the key lock under the rear of the seat, it has HELMET on the right and SEAT on the left. I am guess I put the key in and turn the key lock to the left to open the seat. I tried this and couldnt unlock the seat, I even sprayed PB Blaster in there to try and free up the lock (it has been sitting for at least 20 years). If the lock is frozen how can I get the seat off of there? Please Help Me!!!!
  2. DO you have any pictures or can you explain how you modded the frame to mount the tail? I am interested for my build. thanks!
  3. Oh of course, I plan to clean everything out and get it running before I take it apart. Possibly registered and tagged before I tear it apart.
  4. Hey Hornix, Love the cafe! You have done really well with it. I was looking at the dutch site too and couldnt understand the words but loved the pictures! I especially love the seat, where did you get it? Your bike at the start is crazy similar to my xs400. Same paint except mine has the sissy bar, extended handlebars and a shorty exhaust. I hope to change all of that soon.
  5. Hey all, I am new to this forum, joined because I just acquired a 1978 XS 400 from my dad. It was his old bike and hasnt ridden it for 20+ years so I asked if I could have it. Now its my job to restore it and then I want to mod it into a cafe racer. I have 4 years of riding experience. I started with a 2006 Honda CBR 600RR, got hit on that so now I have a 2008 Triumph Daytona 675 and love it! I cant wait to get into my build and really learn about it all as I go along. I want to get it in inpsectable condition first so I can get it tagged easier. Edit: Here are some pics of it in my dads shed. It was left in that spot since the last day he rode it and nothing was changed. The motor still turns so I am super excited that it is still useable!
