I always nod 9/10 I get one back and you can tell a fair weather rider a mile off lacking the capability to nod
when some one doesn't nod I feel like its the L plates and the thought of 'your not a real biker'
the fist on the helmet iv seen and used
even a bloke in a 4x4 waved and gave a wave and fist on head and sure enough I droped back to 30 and get round the bend
and theres sat a 2 5-0 waiting to snare
also if I see some poor sod pushin there 2 wheels and I got time ill pull over and offer to help
usually they out of petrol, I carry 1lt petrol tank in my bag for emergency's so they suddenly cheer up
-
is your idle is set to low the xt is supposed to run at 1650 rpm
I run mine at 1350 rpm
how old is your battery more than 3 years could need replacing
and check the fuel filter float needle
aint clogged usually bits of plastic from the tank cap seat
try running a bit of redex through it
if this doesn't help clean out the carb need any pointers PM me
iv had mine apart to many times, had to tweek it after a drop ruined my float hight
and changed the jets iv also used a xt carb on a 150cc project
could be of help?
-
when I do which isn't very often i put one in I don't feel the need
and it takes to many attempts to get your splat hat on
go for a over ear (like the 2 way radios for bikes) or the foam inner type
but you need a good set

the ttr AMR stage3 £100 + AMR monster spark coil £40
http://www.amrracing.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=117
there are other makes mainly procom around the 100 mark
raptor 125 £100 again but is adjustable not reprogrammable
raptor 450 £130 at a guestimate im shit with converting from £ - $
http://www.electrosport.com/atvs/yamaha/yamaha-atv-cdi-pe-c-ay450-a.html
if you have a look on google images u can find the pictures of the connecter
you can ignore the 450s smaller connecter
its for the diode above the cdi on the xt just built in
anyone out there pro on these sort of things
also can someone move this topic to work shop please
-
iv been looking to get an aftermarket CDI finally
you cant directly buy one for an xt (or ybr)
but you can get one for the ttr 125 but non adjustable/ programable
with preset timing curve
same engine, stator and connection
recently ive learnt that the raptor 125 shares the same engine
so I get searching and reading
and found it only has a 6 pin cdi (stock 7)
im guessing this is due to it not needing a side stand switch
so a lil rewiring would be needed
but you can get procom adjustable cdi 9 settings
top one removeing all restriction off top end revs
but then looking through people would have tuned up raptor 125s
have used the raptor 450 cdi this you can completely adjust the CDI digitally
but the one connector block on it is the same im guessing the other is for water cooling
so to put it in short is it to far fetched to try fit a raptor 450 Digitally re-pro CDI
to a xt 125
I will be buying the ttr 125s CDI (AMR Stage 3)
and if I come across a 2nd hand yfz 450 performace Cdi on ebay
im tempted to give it a go
-
is it just the clutch grouch it only cost £50-£60 for new plates and springs + gasket and oil change
bust out the touque wrench as well
ive changed mine twice now and probably needs doing again soon
so if ya need pointers
or not to far away I could give you a hand
-
well I just got round to saying hello to YOC after being on here over a year

but it does look slightly different from the pics I got up they were from last summer
main one being oil cooler il get some more images once ive got around to resprayin
and next week gonna order the stage 3 cdi and coil for the ttr
why whats wrong with the xt whats fell off or blown usually whats wrong with em

iv just been looking through the www and iv come across a free half decent by way maps
check it out and tell me if it seem trust worthy
from your own local knowledge or if incorrect on lanes you know and ride
http://bywaymap.com/index.html
iv come to realise iv got a bit of a distance to get to any good long lanes
I live in the west midlands (sucks to be me right now)

I have a single 250 sohc engine jap air cooled twin exhaust sat on my desk only cost £80 from a friend
I was hopeing to drop it in once iv messed with it

and order a cdi for it you can make the exhaust
-
hello
im jake (Prichard) im 24
you can find me riding around the west midlands on my black n gold XT 125 R 09 (2010 plate)
currently waiting taking the mod 2 direct access off with the L plates:)
I believe you can modify and improve anything
im all for thinking out side the box when it comes to performance
I have researched the XT for 2 years to find out what you can actually do to it
im not saying im a top end mechanic either
and you can buy performance parts for the 5vl 124cc engine just not a lot directed at the XT
so any if any one else is trying to do the same message me im sure I can help and/or you can help me
YBR's aswell
I also have a Chinese 150cc big bore project converting to a trike just as a an extra lil mess around
anyway that's my hello
-
will do
dosent look to complicated
just ordered one see if its worth it
-
man grouch that sucks ass
this happens on mine every 9 - 12 months
but check ebay for hydraulic clutch i found a whole assembly for around £35
for 110 -140 dirt bikes
mines due to snap as its started to catch and fray
so im gona convert

sound people I might just stick to the local spots there illegal but grew up round there so I know every exit and entrance
cant beat our local quarry illegal but has a 200 ft sand hill climb not the steepest but great fun loads of lil trax cut it to the flat and at the top
there wooded area with deep quad trax fun to get stuck in there for 20mins
and a couple of mile of dirt track going on and off B roads all linking together
think joining a local clubs the option
but I herd if you got the time you can got to your local council
and ask for the local map of open and closed byways in the brough
they will print them for you with a small fee for the paper work
well the bike is legal road so don't think that would be an issue
yeah got to hit the bar guards clipping barbed wire and branches hurt
also chicanes pot holes snow + hiting 50 doesn't mix your bike ends up in a tree and you end up in a bush
was fun
as for the police they do there job. . . yeah right the past couple of months a few do gooder local residents of wv11 have been give speed trap guns to catch and fine
people yet im paying tax for a copper to be stood there
I think next time I come across one im just gonna ditch the bike let it go sliding down the road and say I though it was a gun hopefully that should put an end to it if they causing accidents
whats your views on this (not so much ditching the bike )
-
Iv had a set of metzeler unicross on/off road tyres for a month now
and haven't been out on dirt yet
can any one suggest some places that I can type in a sat nav
and go sunday mornings after work
-
I ride the Xt125R and whent down from 14t to 13t on the engine sprocket
lost 5 mph off to end but gained bottom end acceleration/torque
the only problem in the chain eats in to the two sprocket bolts
-
iv notice around Dudley 2 big Honda+BMW 4t enduros
and one undercover 1000cc street bike
been pulled a fair few times but speak to them like they human and they are usually ok
I once come very very lucky when caught speeding
by an undercover Volvo estate
should have got 21 point and around £2000 fine
- doing 55 on a 30 (3 points)
- no L plates (6 points - 3 each)
- not in accordance with licence (6 point)
- not in accordance with insurance (6 point)
- near bold back tire (3 points)
but because I had the one plate up me jacket and tire was only just touching legal
they let me off with most things and gave me 3 points £60 fine
They were sound with me tbh my guess is they were about to clock off
good job they hadn't seen me about half hour before
taking my main man to work with no foot pegs
-
dirty DT got it spot on
-
TBH it looks like a bad bit of corrosion
you could polish the s**t out of it just make sure you use a good lacquer
or find a electroplating (chroming) company
-
check the injectors before you start riping ya engine apart
is a must could end up real complicated and expensive
EFI < could not think of the real term cheers sacha
-
guessing you have no modifications performance wise
sound like you got one of two problems
1) some badly fouled spark plug
and this will be caused buy dirty injector and/or incorrect fueling
which means the sparkplug needs to work a damn sight harder
it could be as simple as running redex through ya system or some slight adjust ment
or your injectors and sensors could need a damn good clean with carb cleaner or replaceing
2) Low compression if it needs to be that warm to work
this could be down to worn piston rings or something similar
first things first check ya plug for corrosion or colour change
this will give you a general conclusion google should give you a rough chart or picture guide of this
if it is blacker than the ace of spades your probably looking at new piston rings
meaning your getting oil pasing the piston
if its light and corroded not enough fuel or air leak (burning to hot)
Grab a Haynes manual for it yeah its 18.99 at Halfords but the money they can save in the long run is worth it
xt (all years) and ybr (2005 - 2007) were run by 28mm mikuni single slide carb
where as YBR 2007 onwards were injected
grouch I no ya pain at the lights its a piss take never seems to happen as much any more
with a new less restrictive end can and air filter (+jetting) it starts easyer and idle's easyer and sounds better
-
I will check it
but the fly wheel because of European restrictions and to make it L legal will be restricted (made heavyer)
just don't wana go to light other wise say good bye to top end and smooth gear changes
every thing is restricted on 4t 125cc L euro bikes
air feed, exhaust, downpipes, valves, ports, fly wheel, cdi, list can go on
everything would need to be alterd to get it fully unrestricted
just depends on how much time and effort you got
-
well tbh it took a day to get it running spot on with those three lil mods
it didn't do any thing for the top end but layed on a some more acceleration
and stock this bike runs a mikuna 28mm single slide manual so does require jeting before tuning any thing (even though this carb is sort after for upgrading 125 4t's)
the exhaust take a lot of restriction off and sound f**kin sweet
I think I may try and find a bigger bore but going over a 150cc requires the top of gear box boring ( Easy enough)
any suggestions welcome (links)
there are other things to be done on top
-flywheel lightened
-larger catless down pipe going from 1 1/8" to 1 1/2"
-back wheel converted to 19" from 18"
-monster coil pack
But if all goes to plan I will post up some pics and a running video in a month or so
it would be nice to own the fastest xt 125 r on road
