Before I fit the hawks I tried the 6 hole drill in the end can. It makes a slight differance but not the change I wanted .There is another alternative you'll need 2 circular metal saws to go on the end of your drill and a stick. The process is very simple you have to drill round the small exit hole in the middle of the exhaust and do the same with the bigger saw round the outer rim of the plate (just where it starts to curve) this ones a bit tricky as drilling on a slight angle.patience is a must for this take it slow , ideally you want to remove the plate so its like a pineapple ring if that makes sense. After you have done this your left with the outer exhaust shell and the pea shooter inner where the gas comes out.find yourself a rod/stick that is close to the diameter of the inner pea shooter pipe and push it down till it can't go any further.then take time gently wiggling the stick in all directions softning the weld . When it soft enough move the stick round and round and eventually the inner will come off.and hey presto your bike will be putt putting like a v_twin should.now bear in mind the exhaust for the xvs is a very expensive bit of kit as for performance I really can't say what differance it will make. Also for MOT is just up to the tester really,there are no emmisions tests for bikes and it can only fail if the bike is deemed abnormally louder than usual.but its a cruiser and genrally we get away with a lot more noise than other bikes in my expeirience .example I fit the hawks straight through and it passed even though I wanted it baffled just too loud.if I where you I'd have a look on all the sites ebay gumtree etc.I picked my pipes up for 35 quid , so there are deals out there just keep on looking mate.

I have the hawks on but as far as I know they don't make them anymore.spotted some on gumtree the other week.might be worth having a look.

howdy gents,I'm trying to paint the spokes on the little machine and am wondering is hammerite ok to use ? every time i clean and dry the bike the very next day the rust has started on the spokes and rim.i also can't remove the wheels as am on a main road with no f''n axle stands.other question is autosol ? is this the best for me shiny bits ? i bought blue job its shit,and more expensive than cocaine.

cheers for the help guys,was in a bike garage the other day and explained the plan to one of the mechs there,he reckons it won't make a differance replacing the jet ? ? ? advised him that alot of the guys on here did the same 2 up front sprock and 3 down on the back with the 100 jet in ? he reckoned the jet will do nothing ? can anyone confirm that it makes a differance before i strip the thing down ? as always thanks for the support. p.s Paul White is a fookin legand cheers mate.

I'm trying to mix it up a bit modern and classic .want the bobber rear end tight fitting half guard at the back.have emailed a mob on ebay who do side mount brackets for the virago so hoping they'll sort out the number plate problem.then looking at black 16inch rise ape hangers.the only problem I'm really having is the saddle any suggestions ? Oh and do the tail lights have to be in the middle of the bike? Spotted a twin led number on ebay pretty cool but,these 2 lights act as break lights and indicators.u reckon there legal?

Have ordered the 3 less at the back sprocket now.I thought i was already running a 100 jet but not.So have ordered that as well.So pretty soon i'll have 2 up front sprock,3 down rear sprock and the 100 jet in.I'm going all out on this wee bike i just can't get my head around the economy (record is 156 miles before reserve) and with my hawk pipes on it sounds great.Hoping my rear tyre appears this week 4 weeks after i ordered it ! then i can run it down to the Boneyard and find out how much this bob-job is going to skin me.Looking at new bars too had a set of hangers i aquired but they're bent so. . . . looking into new ones anyone used custom-fastners ? My link,and are our bars 7/8 ? also has anyone done the side mounted number plate on the xvs 125 ? i want to do this too.Then its just sorting the lights out any one got any other cheap custom sites under their hats lol ?">

Its a 2002 , the screen is a givi universal fitment.got it for 20 from scap merchant bargin,its actually quicker now with that on I thought it would have slowed me down but aeros must have improved. the pipes where 60 from gumtree. Those pics where taken after I rebuilt the front end after smashing it lol.the brake is straight now lol.going to try and post a vid to let u guys hear her will be mob phone quality so apologies.
