  1. No K+N filters are great, i have used several on different bikes over the years, its the pods that are no good.

Pods are only a performance boos to an engine tuned to run flat out with WOT so having still air is not an issue, you just want lots of it.

Or you want it for the looks and the noise, but performance :( .

They will cause bad running in bad weather, flat spots and hesitation. Its not so bad on 2 strokes running conventional slide carbs but CV's that work with inlet vacume get all stroppy with the uneven airflow. By all means fit them if you want but a replacement of your standard filter will work far far better.

TTS whan they tuned a 600 i had, told me that they will only remove the airbox for pods on bikes that run the drag strip, otherwise it requires a direct request from the customer.

Thankyou very much, i do have a K&N air filter replacement which i fitted when i bought the bike as i thought cheaper to pay 50 quid rather than 15.00 quid every year as i am keeping the bike for commuting, i don't want to buy the filters which cost £120.00 for x4 if it makes the bike run rough!! yes it does make the bike sound nice but i was hoping some one would say yes do it!! lol it will make it better!!! i appreciate your input. :)

  2. Ok chappys i have a yamaha xj 600 1997, i have been tinkering with it and yes i no it is not a sports bike but as with anything i touch i like a little bit more!! it is my first big bike had her for 1 year to date!! but i just had a nice little full stainless jamo system put on and before i get the carbs balanced i thought about getting some direct air filters on the carbs, as in k&n or similar to that, everyone i no says no don't do it!!! but is it really that bad? i mean more air should result in a bit more umphh!!!????

please give me your thoughts oh great one's!! :D

  3. Ok this may sound really stupid, so i say sorry in advance  ...but i have seen bigger bikes ( i.e bigger than 125cc ) going around with L plates and no instructors?...i mean i thought you could only ride 125cc with L plates?....this has been bugging me for a while so am i being daft or am i missing something?

  4. My advise is to try out bikes...or at least sit on them and see if it feels comftable for you!!...my mates told me bandit was the way to go but when i tryed one out...( well two ) it just was not right for me, in the end i bought a yamaha xj 600 simply because it felt right and had just enuff power to get passed a moped :P ...i truly belive you need to try before you buy, every one is different!! one person may think wow and another might think crap! lots of bikes out there mate and enjoy and good luck on your DAS test ;)

  5. 10k revs does seem excessive.

i'm assuming you start in 1st (1 down)

and then lift the gear lever and letting it return after each gear change? it needs this so the gearbox pawl can return and hook the next part of the gear change drum. ('ll stop there before i overcomplicate things)

check the gear lever isn't loose

60mph isn't too far from the top speed coz they are restricted to around there

Yep you got me lolll... ('ll stop there before i overcomplicate things)

  6. Hello, Does anyone know where i can get a Belly Pan for my 1995 J-Spec XJR-400?

I no this sounds daft but e-bay....i mean is there any thing they don't sell???...or e.mail breakers around the uk?...for a small fee you can put your request out to all the breakers on certain web sites.

  7. :offtopic:

Two gays were having a Sunday morning sexual lie in.

The one that was on top after ejaculating his sperm into his partners rear end said.

"That was fantastic, Right you stay there and I'll go and and get us both a nice cup of coffee, and when I come back it will be your turn to inject your sperm into me, so don't go wasting it by masturbating, I know what your'e like"

    Before he went he said

"Don't forget what I said, I want you to save all that lovely sperm for me"

When he came back into the bedroom with a tray with two cups of coffee and a vase with a single rose in it, he dropped the tray in disgust when he noticed that there was sperm EVERYWHERE.

"You bitch, you rotten bitch, I told you not to waste all your lovely sperm!"

    "I didn't"

"So where's all that sperm come from then?"

    "I only farted!"

  8. A 10 year old boy was going to stay with his grandparents in rural Scotland for the summer holidays.

"Right" said mum, "I know what your like, you won't have a shower while your there so I'm going to make sure your clean before you go. Come and get in the shower with me"

In the shower the boy noticed her mums pubic hairs.

    "What's that mum?"

    A very embarrassed mum replied

    "That's my rabbet"

When the boy came back from his holiday at his grandparents his mum said

"I hope you kept clean while you were there, did you have a shower?"

    To which the boy replied

"I certainly did mum, by the way grans got a rabbet as well, but hers has been involved in an accident."

"How do you know that" replied mum

"Well, half it's guts were hanging out!"

    Second joke coming shortly

    That's so bad!! it's sooo sick.....but i can't stop fookin larrfin!!!!

  9. Hi, I'm Stuart, I am 37. I passed my bike test on thursday and am now the proud owner of a 2003 Thundercat :)

Hi mate i passed my test last week as well nice one bro!!...nice wheels <_<

  10. Great description....

Remember the old 2 second rule, it'll save your bacon one day, but it only works between 30 (at which speed 2 seconds is too long a gap) and 70 (where the gap becomes too small).

    Try this in fast moving traffic;

    • Use all the road to get the best possible view, don't discount the inside line either (although never rely on it for a full picture),

    • If ther is no possibility of an overtake, back off, give yourself a 2 second gap, you'll get a much better view of the road ahead. When you see a gap in the traffic, close up the gap nice and smooth so that when the gap appears you are ready to pull out and get passed.

    • Remember your lifesavers, they are called this for a reason!

    • Read Roadcraft, the motorcycle version it will give you lots of very good advice. Learn the system of motorcycle control.

    • Get yourself on a Bike Safe course, they are all starting up in the next month and will give you access to the highly trained Police Motorcyclist, and thier wealth of knowledge,

    • Keep up on your low speed skills, and take as many opportunities to practice your emergency stops (big carparks on Sunday mornings are a good place) - the last place you want to practice this is in an emergency! The ability to carry out a feet up U-turn shouldn't be underestimated, it shows real skill not just the ability to move your right wrist, which any idiot can do!

All this advise really does help and thankyou...the guy i passed my test with had a saying...( if in doubt CHICKEN out!! )...i keep this locked away in the back of my head at all times when riding, also i am not 20 no more i fear death!!!...as a result i am very VERY cautious of traffic...etc T-junctions and cars that like to stop in the middle of the road for god knows what reason??? ...like today this happend...i took a day off today to go cruising and just get used to my new big bike and am lovin every second :)

  11. The 600 div is very stable in the wet I've found, mine has Bridgestone BT45s (the best tyre for it), keep it smooth-dont blip the throttle even on a straight and use the enging braking to decelerate, dominate your space on the road as you will have to corner slowish and ignore the pussy behind you :)

Thanks for the advice!!!...i really want to be safe and feel safe!!

  12. Glad you enjoyed it Antz" great to feel free isnt it, plenty of summer days ahead, take care tho, them cage drivers dont do mirrors, Last week we were following a car[b class road], it stopped dead in front of us then on came revercing light.mad.gif , we let him kno with horns and gestulates, And thers been two fatallitys here this week, both involving cars at juntions, So be-aware , slacken off for juntions.wink.gif

Thanks for the advice....i no what you meen i was doing 60 behind a van that was following a car in a 60 limit on the A32 near alton and the tosser in the car in front of the van decided to turn left with no indication and i nearlly become that fuzzy little bear thats sticks to the rear window of cars

  13. Hi everyone!

My son just bought a 1986 Radian - loves it, running great but much to my embarassment I`m having trouble with the oil change!! For one thing, it is very difficult to tell the oil level from the viewer which is either too dirty or maybe so full that I can`t get a level. Next, where will i find the oil filterÉÉ rather not take the whole thing apart - I`m sure it is behuind the cover just above the filler cap but I`d like to be sure. Finally, what filter do you suggest and do we know the approximate oil capacityÉÉ thanks so much -

    Doc

Is this bike a 125cc?...if so it may not have a filter on it?
