  1. Ahhh, never knew that. Sounds like a good way to solve that problem.
  2. There's plenty good quality non-yamaha mirrors. I'm not saying that don't buy the yamaha ones, I would. But I'm just saying they did that to possibly increase their income.
  3. For the Dragstars, the mirrors have to be yamaha or mirrors that are attached the opposite way other bikes attach mirrors. I can't remember if its just for one side or both. But basically you're better off buying yamaha mirrors, or talking to someone in the shop just to make sure. Why do they make 'em like that? My guess would be to make more money.
  4. Put the battery in, tried to turn it on a couple of times without the choke, didnt work. So I turned the choke slightly. Then the engine starte and kept running. Left it running for a couple of mins, then turned it off. So seemed to have got the problem sorted. Thanks to everyone that gave tips and advice.
  5. Yeah, kind of forgot that part. Its been nearly a year since I took my CBT, and I've only got my bike a couple of weeks ago. At the moment, I'm just charging the battery, as I didnt o this when I bought it. Then I'm going to put it in an clean the spark plugs again and see if she starts. By the way, if I did flood the engine, do I get rid of that problem by turning the accelarator as I turn the engine on?
  6. The bit in blue means that if I try to turn it on whilst its in first gear, I make sure the side stand is up and that I've got the clutch pulled in. It might be the flooded problem. I'm gonna try it once again without the choke being on. If that doesnt work I'll use the battery charger I just got. And I've cleaned the spark plug 2 times today, so that shouldnt be the problem. Anyway, I'm gonna go try what you guys recommended and see how she gets on and let you guys know. Thanks for your help so far.
  7. Sorry to bug you guys again, but I came across an unexpected problem. When I got a new battery for the bike, and started it, it started fine 3 or 4 times. The problem was I only started it to check the engine and didnt ride it all those times. When I decided to take it for a short ride today, it wouldn't start. At first it started for a sec, and then the rpm's went down and it stopped (found this strange as the choke was on). Everytime I try to start it after that, it almost starts and dies several time while I try to turn the engine. I've checked all the basics, the engine is on on, the choke is on, and when I try to turn it on on first gear, the side stand is up and the clutch is in. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  8. I got a new battery for it an hour or so ago. Turned her on, and the engine started on the first attempt. Never have I heard a sweeter sound, well apart from this girl.....never have I heard such a sweet non-human sound. I can't wait to book the MOT, and get her on the road. Thanks again everyone.
  9. I went on a few websites to see what battery types the Dragstar would be able to handle. And the two main ones seemed to be the YB7L-B and CTZ7-S batteries. They were in the £30-33 range. As for borrowing a charger of someone, at the moment I'm on a bit of a tight schedule, so I wouldnt have time to go borrow and then return it. So I guess I'll just have a look around the recommended shops an buy the battery and charger together. Hopefully that'll get her started, I'll keep you guys informed. Thanks for all your help so far.
  10. Woul you recommen a shop to buy the battery from?
  11. The petrol tank is full, it's on neutral and I always put the choke on. I've checked the fuse, seemed alright. So yeah, you guys are prolly right, I was a little suspicious of the battery because of how quickly it runs dry when I try to turn the engine on. I'm gonna change the battery an dlet you guys know if it works. Btw, would it be easier to just buy a new battery rather than recharge it if ~I don't have the kit to recharge the battery? And would I be better off buying a battery for it from a garage or the internet? Cheers for all your help.
  12. Hey there fellow owners, I've recently purchased my first bike, the yamaha dragstar 125. I've been told that its a first time starter, and has a very good engine by the person who sold me the bike. When I went to pick it up, the owner was able to start it straight away, even though it was snowing and very cold. But, ever since I got it home and into the shed. I haven't been able to start it. It made a good almost starting noise the first time I've tried starting it. But evry time I try to start it it makes a weird noise and the battery goes very weak. The noise it makes is almost that of an old horn. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get her started? Thanks in advance.
