  1. ok thanks, that's what I was thinking, but was unsure how the process worked... been doing some reading and think I'll be looking into re-jetting. Thanks,
  2. carbs on the brain...

  3. Hey Mackeil, I have a 1976 XS500C and I think I may be having some similar issues. I just cleaned the carbs out and switched to K&N pod filters instead of the stock filter, and I am experiencing erratic idling (mainly while riding) and occasional engine racing (mainly on startup, when it's still choked). When I reassembled the carburetor I replaced the gaskets, but that was it. Do you think this could be the same issue? I'd like to know how this worked out for you if you were able to get the replacements! Also, which part is the E-clip? I can't quite place it...The carbs may be different, as the bikes are different years and makes, but I'd imagine they would be pretty similar. Thanks!
  4. cool, thanks guys. I've also had it suggested to cut some matching 1" pieces of PVC pipe and just install them on top of the springs to compress them and make them stiffer. This seems like it makes sense, and would be a way cheaper option. Any reason why I shouldn't?
  5. any idea on the specs of the springs for the XS500? I'm looking for new ones, and can't find what size I need.
  6. ...also FYI, I've checked Sonice Springs, HVC Cycle, and Hagon's to no avail. the closer I can figure is the SR500, which Hagon's carries. anyone know if this would be compatible?
  7. Hey guys, I've recently purchased a '76 XS500, and I'm looking to get some new tighter front springs, as the bike more or less nose-dives when I hit the front brakes, and also for better riding. The problem is that I, nor anyone in the shops around town (Vancouver) know the specs for the springs, or any compatible models so that I know which ones to order. If anyone knows somewhere where I can find the right springs, or the specs so I can order them from a shop, I would be very appreciative. Thanks,
  8. Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find front fork springs that will work for my 76 XS500. having a heck of a time finding the specs, or a compatible model. thanks,
