  1. The re engine is only suitable for spares The dt engine works but I would like to rebuild it before I use it An I thought as the engine would be rebuilt May as we'll fit the leccy start while I at it
  2. I have an old dt engine I. Planning on rebuilding I also have a dtre engine with electric start I ve been advised that to fit the electric start into the other engine it's quite a bit of work engine case needs milling an the crank an flywheel from the dtre needs to be used That said I have both engines here Can anyone give me any advice on doing the mod
  3. I can't make my mount 100mm there is not enough metal on the bracket I don't want a 4 pot I want to run a 2 pot it will be lighter ( the fzr four pots that are on now weigh a tonne An as you say 4 pots are an overkill for a 125 especially the twin setup that is fitted at the moment
  4. Sounds like it wasn't put back in the correct position If you google dtr125 forum you can find lots of topics on it with pics
  5. Thanks drewpy I ve found 2pots from 5o mm to 75 mm but none in 100 mm yet
  6. I wanted to replace the heavy 4 pot with a nice light 2 pot caliper The bikes only a 125 there is no need for 4 pot caliper s Is it possible to get 2 pots with 100 mm spacing
  7. 4 pot calipers have 100mm spacing 2 pot have 75mm or so it seems I cant find a 2 pot in 100mm spacing
  8. you sure its only your bag he looks in sounds like a theif to me anyway no need to do anything sinister go to a pet store an buy loads of crickets (crickets are used as food for lizards etc) fill your bag an remember not to open it yourself
  9. I find it awkward lugging the 130KG + machine around I m sure most of the weight comes from the v twin I ve got a dt engine still in frame an I m able to lift this on to the bench with no bother I d like to think I can get the dt engine in the xvs frame but I m not going to rush into it there should be enough room to mount the oil an water tanks above the engine not sure about the air box though if I cant align the engine sprocket with my rear wheel I could fit the dt wheel an spacers as me exsting swingarm is wider than the dt s
  10. what I meant was the blue spots are a twin caliper setup so they have a big enough master cylinder to feed both calipers I d like to fit just one caliper theres no need for a twin setup on this bike if I fitted a blue spot caliper with its intended master cylinder then suely the mc would push too much fluid as its designed to work with two calipers
  11. just found my caliper on ebay seems to be from an fj1200 those blue spots work as a pair don't they if I fit one the master cylinder will push too much fluid in / not enough if I fit a smaller mc ?
  12. this is my current calipers http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/455/6t0n.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  13. insurance said it will put insurance up by £27 a year that's if I swap the standard 125 engine for any other 125
  14. I own xvs 125 that has been changed a lot its running 140 tyres with different front an backend by doing this I ve probably added weight I like the bike but I find it hard to manovure it around when bringing it out of house or in to bike parking at work etc It would be much lighter if it had a 2 stroke engine providing I can line up the sprockets I cant see it being that difficult to fit an engine am I missing something obvious? I noticed on dts the bottle for the water is mounted high up at the back of the bike under the side plastics is this because its gravity fed or just because yam found it a handy place to store it
  15. on some calipers under the bleed nipple there is a ball bearing if the bearing fell out an someone thought they found it but it was actually a different sized bearing this could be it or it may not be there at all just a thought
  16. erm neither they are from an early fzr with fazer an x up parts mish mash I will ad a pic tmorrow out of interest how much does one weigh there must be some mx bikes out there with a 100mm spaced light weight caliper
  17. don't think I can make one from some plate the dt caliper is 80mm so it would be 10mm longer at each end when the m6 hole is drilled there would only be 2mm each side of the hole can you put a pic up yours drewpy?
  18. the fzr forks that I m using run a twin caliper setup an it weighs a tonne I d like to remove the calipers an fit just one that is smaller an lighter what other yamahas have calipers that have holes that are 100mm centre to centre? I ve tried a dt caliper but the spacing is 80mm
  19. I will put a pic up at weekend did the import bikes have rr stamped on the frame
  20. got a dtr off a friend of someone i work with its been sat in his shed for years he reckons its an 05 plate I thought all Yamaha frame numbers started with jy this bike has dtr125rr an then ten digits does anyone have any thoughts on this tried to do hpi check at work but it doesn't bring anything up
  21. I don't know the reg if I did a could do a hpi check at work an this would show the engine an frame numbers but I cant do the check using the frame number
  22. I ve bought a dtr for some parts the seller says it 05 plate doesn't come with docs or reg plate but the numbers are all there can anyone on here get the reg from frame number do the dvla charge for doing this
  23. hmm never thought of that how about a dt engine they already have a stator to run lights too
  24. if you take an electric start bike with lights etc an change to a motocross engine how hard is it to wire up the existing lights to the magneto I assume this is the same as making an mx bike road legal however my bike has a battery if using a kick start engine do I still need to use the battery
