hello my DT125R has a few problems
1. won't idle with choke off, and sometime seems to stutter a small amount while accelerating from standstill but is fine once its at higher revs..
2. it has a slight rattling noise coming from the engine, but it is neither small end bearing or big end bearing from what i could tell, when i checked them. and it has had this rattling noise for about 5 months now and if it was a bearing surely it would of been nackered by now.
any help is appreciated thank you.

Then yours can not be restricted at the PV.
it was though :S... but once i rebuild the whole engine, i'll play about and find out lol...fun :|

Sorted out my PV today.
on removal of the pulley and exhaust i found it to be in the restricted position.By sticking a finger in the top of the exhaust port it could be felt that there was a hollow groove between the port and the PV. This is because the PV needs to be turned slightly more and will then be a smooth passage through port to cylinder with the pulley aligned with the 4mm hole in the cylinder. There are two possible positions to mount the pulley onto the PV, hopefully the pics will make it clearer.
Pic 1, Pulley removed and this is the position as found (Restricted)
Pic 2. Back of pulley showing how the PV would sit in the restricted position.
Pic 3. Back of pulley showing how the PV would sit in the un-restricted position
I can report a definite improvement now and the bike is much more willing to rev freely.
Cant give it beans yet as due to still running in so revs not going much over 6k at the moment.
DEP silencer is on order and a 250 main jet. I believe standard is 240.
hmmm ive looked at my powervalve pulley and where it sits, and on my dt it does not have the diamond shape, instead it is of a rectangular shape that fits perfectly into the back of the pulley. :S

hello my dt125r has very bad vibrations around the exhaust and engine area, name possible causes please
-
Tbh mate all it gave me is more bottom end that made up for the pv being pegged fully open. But strangly lost me a few 1500rpm/10mph of the top end
If you can get a good kit cheap then why not but if your thinking buying full price id spend a fraction of the money and get your cylinder ported new reeds and up or lower depending on what you want your gearing by 1 tooth

ah right i see, its just been something on my head. but cheers

hello there is the 170 athena kit worth getting for mt dt125r because im considerign gettin one and if it can i get a list of things i'll need to do to make the dtr run right with it, thanks

Oh and +1 means i agree with your post, it wasn't a form of mockery.
haha i knew it meant agree, but i thought it was a mockin agree haha because i knew my answer was a tad umm crap ha.
-
I have tried in a another thread to help Jake out without success.
If you posted on here and got a poor answer then you either a: wasn't asking the right question or b: it was a first post with no introduction
hmm i hope he udnerstand wht im tryin to say though hahaha
well probaly without no introduction, but ive done that now haha, i was in a rush at the time
-
+1
dont be mockin my slacky answer haha, that was what was stoppin my bikes top speed. but i came on here asking about it and gettin very dodgy asnwers, untill i decided to find out myself...
-
my dtr was absolute balls in top gear, this was because my powervalve wasnt workin right. it might not be this but. when you hit band do you actualy get pulled back....dont mistake the pull back for a little one because the dt powerband is actualy quite strong.
-
No not crossed Dave, have a look at post mumber 31 onwards in this topic for PV setting.
okay dokay, i was going to look through the whole thread, but one to many posts to read them all. thanks, i'll have a ganda
-
hello. um do any of you know whether my powervalve cables need to be crossed on a 2001 DTR because when i had my powervalve running with the cables uncrossed, it would hit the band patheticly and would only top out at 65. so after loads of thought and time i decided to pin it open(with servo not working) and lost no bottom end power and it now power wheelies when it hits band and will do just about 80 at a scream.
then i was playin around with the ypvs and fully closed it(with servo not working), and when i pulled away it was a powerhouse untill 6k and it wouldnt go further.
unforantly i snapped a bit of plastic on the servo which holds one of the cables in place and before attmeptin to fix it, i would like to know whether or not my cables need to be crossed, or whether or not i might have the powervalve in correctly.
if anyone can help, would be very greatfull:)

A, yes Vez, but back in the day there was a WR 200 and also a WR 500. Both of them were 2 stroke. They were aimed at the US market if i can remember correct. (might be wrong )
They were made espicaly for enduro, had lights and electricks but were not road legal. The DT 200 is probably the closest resemblence today, with the only change being electrick power-valve and oil injection.
Look under some rocks on a sandy beach and i bet ya could still get your hands on one,,,,,,they were the kind of the sand-dumes and would put any KTM200 to shame.
ahhh i think my friends wr200 has had the electric powervalve put on his im not too sure ... but he did an enduro on it, and he was absolutely destroying other bikes up hills, its a total beast

Welcome Jakey
Thats our Vez's PV you have posted up, it was going the wrong way but I understand that when he earthed the necessary wire on his CDI...***HEY PRESTO***
His engine blew up
hahahaha well that made me laugh and made my day haha
-
A pic would be nice, i like the WR styling but prefer 2-strokes so this sounds the best of both
yeah that's what im like i love the bike haha
-
I thought all the WR*** range were 4-strokes and started at 250cc?
thats what i thought untill my friends brother got hold of one, i'll try and get a picture, it's a very nice bike
-
hello, i don't really know much about them, but i suppose if the slightly smaller engines have no advantage over the 450, then get the 450....unless you want to get a wr200 2 smoker mwhaha

right me chippers, this is anuva 1 of them topics about the top speed of a yamaha dt 125. ive seen it evrywhere about them doin atleast 80mph. i have one myself where as it has absolutely great power in gear 1, gear 2, gear 3 and gear 4, no problems at all, it will reach about 65-70mph ragging the tits outta it. and as i go to gear up into 5th, it seems to start to slow down.
anyone have any ideas why this is?
