  1. will post next time i see it came from the us and yes 68mm is the last over size but i dont think going the 67.5mm would clean up the bore fully... gess i better start looking for a spare barrel too
  2. ok will do thanks also i have seen on ebay a while back a sleve and piston kit to take the 175 to 200 .. would they just be a 200 sleve and piston and you bore the barrel to fit the sleeve??
  3. no the bore is ok just needs a good hone i orderd the next o/s up 68mm and that should leave the bore all nice i have rebuilt a lot of car / industrial motors but this would be my first bike, i have a 92 dt175 manual and the engine looks the same do you think the piston to bore clearance would be the same on my 88 ?? and do you have any tips for the rebuild..
  4. ok the plug was black and the chunk that was taken out of the piston was right at the exhaust outlet down to the first ring and the ring let go there as well also i do not run a muffler it has a piece of pipe coming off the expansion chamber the same length as the old muffler...i will tear down the carb down and report back..i will go back to my old air box just need to find a new filter its the flat type do you know some online shops i looked on ebay but no good.
  5. hello, my dt blew its piston took a chunk out of the top i have a open air filter (pod type) and a pipe with restriction taken out do you think my jetting was out ?? if so what would be some good settings for it at 55 to 100m elevation also i have some new proformance power reeds on the way the carb is mikuni all help would be good as i do not want to kill the new piston....
  6. i am keeping my old expansion chamber section all a want to do is extend the end so it exits in a better spot
  7. yes the tail pipe/muffler i am going to make my own just to exit the gasses out past my leg do you have any suggestions on the pipe , just a straight pipe , a pipe with holes at the end of the pipe ??? any ideas would help , all the info has been great thanks..
  8. also what do you think about running with out a muffler mine had a broken mount and my brother used a ark welder to try and fix and blew holes in it what i was going to do is make up a piece of pipe to exit the gasses away from my leg and go for it, i run with 4 strokes so noise is not really an issue..
  9. got it to rev good when i was cleaning the carb i found that the circlip that holds the needle in was broken os got a new one and away it went will check the timeing with a timeing light next...
  10. when i has it running backwards it was reving fine but i gess i bit of crap may of found its way in..
  11. the fuel tap has two tubes coming off it one fuel witch flows good and the other is vacuum the bike never had a fuel filter on it until i put one on in this fix-up so i will pull the carb off and give the jets a clean hope this works... should i check the fuel/air mix first ??? i will post some pics soon... also i seen some sparks from the mag so i rediped the coils and put new cables on but that did not fix the prob. could it be because i have the timeing off?
  12. OK i have got it running in the rite direction now the pick up coils where different but only with the way the wires came out of the coil itself on the new one i got the earth wire came out the top and the power wire came out the bottom but the one i had the wires where opposite what the prob i have now is that when it is hot i can only rev it quick once after a start if i try to rev it quick after that is goes to die when i get off the throttle it returns to norm idle and when i ride it is very sergie it takes off then slows down and then takes off a bit more what could this be??? also thanks for the quick replys guys been a good help, i will post some pics in the bar when she is up and running good
