  1. Long term member, but I've been unfaithful; haven't had a Yamaha for a while. I now have a rather tasty FZX 750 again! :headbang:

    [sharedmedia=garage:vehicles:1061]

My childhood dream bike, improved. On a side note; how do I remove pics from my gallery? I no longer own the bikes in there apart from this one, and I would like to remove them!

Seeing the XJR upsets me... Loved that bike sooooo much. :bawling:

  2. Bit late with my response... I bought mine new, but preregistered. 60 plate, 0 miles on the clock, bought in 8/2011.

So I've had her about 2 years now. 16500 miles later, still on original chain & sprockets and on 2nd front & 3rd rear tyre (punctured one).

Good bike. If a bit bland & boring... Does everything well enough... Handles well enough, is fast enough, stops well enough. Doesn't excel at anything.

As for MPG - saw a few numbers before of 180 to a tank. I get 140 on average?!?

    I must have a loose wrist! :-)

My IXIL full system makes her sound nice at least...

  3. 18 and an R6 - be prepared to pay through the nose!

Unfortunately, it is the d!ckheads that ruin it for the rest of us, as always!

Good luck; I'd suggest MCE, as I have had good experiences with them myself. CN used to be good, but not for me anymore???

  4. I wanted to know exactly the same thing - I have done 9.5k miles and the front tyre has just started to show a really wierd wear pattern (back has loads left yet) and from the above posts its probably better to replace the BT021s with the same.

    Cheers

9.5k miles out of a set? Wow. Impressive... I'm on 4500, and my rear Dunlop IS getting a bit low... Then again, my old XJR would have chewed it up completely by now!

  5. ref the buzzing mentioned by some above

I have '60 XJ6FA and I also found it was at times both 3000rpm ish and 4500-5000 rpm ish. Riding on open road, I managed to figure out it was the front screen/black dial 'dash'.

Local dealer tried to tighten all the screen fixings - no change.

Second trial with 2 guys on the bike with me holding the revs, it stopped if they pressed the black dial 'dash' to the left & right of the dials, right at the pointed bit where it meets the screen and fairing. They have fixed by fitting some, like double sided sticky sponge, at that point and the noise has stopped - heaven!

The buzzing I meant is the engine - in that rev range (between 6/7k RPM), the engine is a little buzzy... It smooths out if I either drop or raise the revs out of that band...

  6. I'd stick with Bridgestone. I have been a huge fan since I had my XJR 1300, and managed to get 6000 miles out of a back tyre... Was down to the radial by then, but STILL gripped.

I still miss that bike - did 35k miles on it in 18 months of owning it!

  7. I bought a white XJ6N new in September 09 .

It was my first bike and I have now covered just over 20 thousand miles on it .

Just about at the end of only its second set of its standard fitment Bridgestones , getting 10 thousand miles a set . Other than having had 2 brake lever/light switches under warranty it has been reliable . I put a new chain on it at about 18000 miles and have serviced it myself.

Everything the other guys say about these bikes is true , really good entry level bike and more . Highly recommend it .

Bridgestones? Mine (2010 model) came with Dunlop SportMax's on it? I'm not a fan, and my next set will be Battlax's of one type or other...

  8. Its Shorter Dog Bones you want not longer, very easy to make you can buy the flat bar from B&Q. Just shorten by 10mm will raise the back a lot.

    Adam.

D'oh. Yes, shorter, of course...

  9. Hi Guys

Just bought a new xj6 divvy f abs and have spent the last 3-4 days running it in to it's first 600 mile service!! :spin2: And I think it was a good choice for a fairly new rider (getting back in after a while out)! But I have noticed a loud buzzing noise between 30 and 43 mph in 3rd or 4th gear (way louder than normal)!?

Can't locate it exactly... tried holding the fairing and shield etc... so guessing its the engine? Anyone else had this noise? Or is it just an inherent problem with the Divvy?

My dealership said that would take a look whilst servicing the bike but Im not holding out much hope!?! What would you recommend I do?

    Many thanks all

    Steve

ine gets a buzz going between 6/7000 RPM - a bit irritating, as that's exactly motorway speed, 70/75 MPH... It goes away at 7000+, so now I cruise at 81/85! :babyha:

  10. If the suspension uses "dog bones" to adjust the ride height, get some longer ones made? I'm sure they must be available from somewhere? Otherwise, I wouldn't know, really. I assume you've trawled the web?

  11. There's a rather nice Termignoni system on eBay.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140597900601?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

However, most aftermarket systems seems to have a more conventional silencer setup...

I like the underslung can! One of the reasons for going for this bike rather than one of the competition's offerings (Gladius, ER6, Hornet...).

I like the look of the Two Brothers one... But I can't get a good pic of the Devil system?

  12. Mate of mine is shoehorning a FZR 1000 EXUP motor into his FZX 750... Engine fits OK, but the problem is the exhaust:

    QUOTE:

"i just been offered a complete exhaust with power valve, vance and hines can, and servo, cdi, cables, etc, for £100

i am just thinking buy that ,it might save me some hassle, i wonder if its just a case of putting power to the servo and wire to the cdi, or if there are any relays involved, any one know ?"

As the man said, anyone know?

Answers on a postcard.... Oh wait. No. a reply here would be MUCH quicker! :P

  13. Folks, sorry if this is inappropriate, but:

Screw eBay! www.bikesforbikers.co.uk is now open for business!

Like most of you probably, we (me & 2 mates) were getting pissed off with eBay's monopoly.

    SOOOOO….

My mate had the brilliant idea of starting our own auction site, exclusively for bikes & bike parts.

We’ve spent the last few days setting it all up, and it’s live NOW.

It’s “under development”, and also remember that we don’t have eb*y’s coffers, so it’s a simple set up, so it’s not as slick, but it does everything we think we need!
