  1. The additional 60 W are too much. Why the 2x 15 W on the rear? Simply use a LED tail light. Less than 5 W consumption (the original one) while in normal use, up to 5 W when the brake lights are on. And instead of using additional lights in the front -> choose H4. But I thought the custom already has got H4 in 2010? Or did you buy it used/last year model? With H4 in the front -> see the retroreflective markers up to 600 m (on a straight road) with normal light, up to 900-1000 m with high beam. At least with the parts I have mounted on my YBR, standard 60/55 W H4 bulb. Greetings, Martin
  2. I have asked a germany Yamaha dealer. He told me that they do not now anything like that with the YBR 125. I told him that there are several people with the same problem. He told me that there is a diagnosis tool for the injection models ('07 and later). That might be able to find the problem. But he told me again that they have never experienced any problem like that with a YBR - but he did not tell how many people with a YBR drop in... Greetings, Martin
  3. Sorry for my bad english but I ment if you have checked the filter and the spark plug again after the problems started to grow. Rain can be a problem but I think the wires and connectors are insulated well enough. Especially when it comes to the cdi and the connectors that have been used there. My main problem: I own the '05 with carburator so I do not have any auto choke, etc. I was riding through heavy rain, no problems at all. And that with the funnel-like rubber thing below the odometer containing the connectors for odometer, turn signals, lights, etc. I do not know where the gas filter is positioned on the '07 model. Have you checked it as well? My old book tells me that problems like that can be caused by: * old or dirty gas * filter is dirty and blocks the gas * the motor gets air from somewhere else * gas pump does not work properly Greetings, Martin
  4. So have you done that trip yet? If yes: Is there a page I can see some pictures and read about? I wanted to do a little bit more with my YBR - but the weather was that worse that I cancelled the idea from travelling from the south of germany to do le-jog and back in 2-3 weeks. But I still like to read about what others have done with their bikes - especially with 125 cc. Greetings, Martin
  5. Best thing to modify the looks: Remove that brick-like turn signals and replace them with smaller ones. I know that the newer models ('07 or newer) already got smaller turn signals. But you always could switch to clear LED turn signals. Here is my '05 YBR with the original look: Greetings, Martin

    ybr125 fuel cock

I can help out with two pictures: The plastic is removed so you can see the knob in silver with the gas filter below of it. The positions are just readable when you remove the knob (or the plastic)... With plastic and in use (in front of some houses in switzerland): If the small end of the "arrow" points down, it is "normal use". If you turn it 180° you will use "reserve". Greetings, Martin
  7. Have you checked the air filter and the spark plug yet? Okay, you got low mileage - but where has it been ridden? Dusty or wet areas? Or even worse: Dusty AND wet areas? Maybe it is just the air filter that needs to be cleaned or swapped. Auto choke could be the problem, too. But I would start checking the air filter in the first place. I own a '05 YBR so I do not have the auto choke. But it worked quite well with a '93 Honda CH 125 Spacy - with over 48'000 km on the odometer (owned it when I was in switzerland). Greetings, Martin
  8. Same problem with a YBR 125 injection here in germany. But the workshop told a different story: If the pressure in the tank is too high, the valve is shutting off. I did not believe that until the owner of a '09 wrote in a bulletin board that if he removes the gas cap the YBR can be started after a few seconds. There should be the valve in the gas cap, that does that work. Mabe it was just luck? There was nothing exchanged on warranty. Greetings, Martin ('05 YBR owner)
  9. I think the main problem is that they use 35/35 Bilux-AS for a large variety of new 125 cc bikes. I had an old Honda CH 125 Spacy from '93 when I was in switzerland - and the light was even better than that on my VW T4. Thanks to H4. Now I own a '05 YBR 125 and here it is: The same problem like with cars from the 1980s: Bilux-AS, again. I took the old headlight of a Honda CX 400, two solenoids, a fuse and some wire and there it is: Bright as H4 can be. I think the original wires of the YBR 125 are two short in diameter. So I went for a direct connection to the battery, using the old wires only to switch the solenoids. I have made a documentation of my conversion: H4 headlight with solenoids. Right now in german language. But using the tiny flag on the top of the site you will get the link to the google translator or maybe some day in the future the proper english translation (if someone got the time to help me translating it). If someone with a YBR wants to do the same conversion and has some questions -> feel free to ask me via e-mail or here in the thread. Greetings, Martin
  10. There are several options to increase the "glowworms in a box"-headlight of your YBR 125. The easiest, cheapest solution: Switch the bilux-as bulb to one with higher power. Like the Osram Bilux-AS Haloroad with 45/40 watts. But it still will be some kind of glowworm. I took the old headlight of a Honda CX 400, added some cable and two solenoids, a fuse and there it is: H4 for the YBR 125 without any trouble of overpowering the tiny lines. It is a lot better with H4 compared to the original solution with the Bilux-AS bulb. I have made a documentation of my conversion: H4 headlight with solenoids. Right now in german language. But using the tiny flag on the top of the site you will get the link to the google translator or maybe some day in the future the proper english translation (if someone got the time to help me translating it). Greetings, Martin
  11. I am planning to visit great britain this summer - on a Yamaha YBR 125. Until a few weeks ago it would have been a friend and myself, but he can not spend enough days away from home, so it seems to be me on my own. The very vast idea of the trip: Google Maps. I have read a lot of reviews "places you must see" and "places you do not want to visit/you must not do that". But: Most of them done by car and using the ferry to travel up to scotland and then drive down to the south. If you know a page that tells the story of someone that did a trip like that on his/her bike -> I would be glad to recieve a link. And: Some suggestions that I should plan in definitly? I have got 3 weeks to ride in the UK. Greetings from Germany, Martin
  12. The benefit of 1 tooth will be: Naximum torque at higher speed. I have to write it in km/h. Usually ('05 YBR) approx. 8500 to 9000 rpm at ~100 km/h, 8000-8500 rpm at ~85 km/h. Trying to overtake a lorry with 85 km/h while the peak of torque was at about 70-75 km/h -> kind of an andventure. So 1 tooth more -> more torque when you need it. I do not care about the maximum speed. So it does not bother me if it would bei 100 or 104 km/h. _____ I have read that more than 1 tooth (15 instead of 14) ist not possible without carving some metal of the box. Someone with a 16 teeth sprocket here to verify or falsify that statement? Greetings, Martin
  13. If that is too expensive -> why not buy a used part? eBay (germany) is full of odometers for the ybr (or from similar products). I have mounted a windscreen. Hopefully it will preserve the odometer from being damaged in case of an accident... Greetings, Martin
  14. If it is cold, I also got that sound shifting between neutral, the first and the second gear. After some kilometers/miles the sound is gone. Others told me that they got that »problem«, too. After changing the oil I experienced an improvement. But I can be mistaken. _____ Yamaha offers all the manuals. Simly go to the models on the website, choose the YBR and there you are. Even if you choose the brazilian or the german website, all manuals will be available in all languages (spanish, portugiese, english, german, etc.). Greetings, Martin
  15. Here in Germany some owners changed the standard exhaust to one from NSCS. Due to law restrictions the usage of the 125 cc bikes is limited to 80 km/h as long as the rider is below the age of 18. So they just wrote about a »better sound« (whatever that might be) and were not able to tell if there has been any other improvement at all. Also there is a kit available in Germany. It is from the company »Alpha Tec«. It includes another crankshaft as well as some replacement for the electronics. With that it should be possible to reach over 105 to 110 km/h (real, not just on the odometer). But it is very expensive. So it can not be found very often. Greetings, Martin
  16. Another possibility: Change the standard bilux to H4-bilux. I have read a few owner's postings on the web -> great improvement, but the generator seems to have tiny problems with the new bulbs. Just switching the bulbs without the reflector caused the melting of the reflector on one owners YBR 125. If I remember correctly he used some »ultra bright« bulbs with more (obviously too much) watts. Greetings, Martin

    YBR125 Tyres

Some owners in Germany used the Metzler ME 22 tyres on their YBR 125. Same size, but different brand. They wrote about better grip and handling. Greetings, Martin

    YBR125 Help

How do you turn the fuel switch? It has three positions: ^ (up) reserve > (horizontal) closed (down) normal use Which one did you use? Greetings, Martin
  19. Is there no one with a case carrier on a YBR 125 out there? Greetings, Martin
  20. Hello! I am searching for two parts. Is there any chance to get an aftermarket case carrier for the sides for a 2005 Yamaha YBR 125? I am living in Germany and they only have two words for me: "No way". The other question: I have noticed the side stand of the 2007 YBR 125. Is it possible to get and mount it to a 2005 YBR 125? Guess the answer in Germany: Yes, you are right: "There is no side stand for a 2005 YBR 125 in the catalouge"... Thanks in advance Martin
