  1. well on a cruiser sitting bolt upright, wind blasting at your face would you want it any faster anyway?
  2. 60-65 mph for a 125 drag would be right, even a dt 125 was said to have a top speed of 65mph and i remember my L-plate days and my tzr 125 only ever hit 75mph and that was considered the sporty fast type 125,infact all 125's come restricted to 70mph,the dragstar would be slightly slower than a tzr due to weight, shape ect so dont worry, looking at the bikes stats even the 650 and 1100cc dragstars are said to have a top speed of 110mph!
  3. hi everyone, a few weeks ago i became the owner of a yam xs 750 special,i got it as a second bike and as my other bikes a sports bike i wanted to try something completely different so went for a cruiser, its a 1978 so i have the intention of making it look a little more pretty than it did when i picked it up,ive resprayed the frame, polished up the engine and look to replace some chrome parts ect,my question is does anyone know if these 750 specials share the same engines as the uk spec xs 750?,i'll be looking to buy filters, fork seals ect and am wondering where to buy spares. any help appreciated,ta
  4. hi, is there anyone who is able to tell me if a yamaha xs 750 special us custom shares the same engine as the uk spec xs 750,i bought a 78' 750 special and am wondering if cables, fork seals, filters ect are the same? thanks
  5. hi, the bike had a full service last month and was running fine on tickover yesterday when the bike had been run, sounds a bit silly but i know nothing about these bikes was just looking for another bike and liked its look, phoned the seller and he cant understand it as he says she fires first time with the choke on,where is the choke on this bike?,im pulling out a flat metal lever left side of the bike, lever pulls out to a "nipple" stopping it being pulled any further but when let go it flips back again, its not like it stays open,i suppose i have got the choke or is it somewhere else, ive not seen this design before am i looking at the right thing....HELP
  6. hi, im hoping someone here can help me,just today i became the owner of a yam xs750 special a us custom, being raised with sports bikes i know little about the bike i just bought and unfortunatly it didnt come with a users handbook. the problem im having is getting it started,i saw the bike running the night before when i went to see the bike but trying to start it today ive had mega problems, the engine turns but doesnt fire up,like i need some choke for a cold start, problem is how does the choke work?,i pull the lever out on the carb all the way and turn the engine but it still didnt start, i tried so often i maybe run the battery down too much,i tried with the kickstart and again pulled the lever out and kicked it over after 6 or 7 times it did fire up but unless you keep your hand on the throttel the engine will stop as its cold,it doesnt seem to make a differance if you let the throttel go and pull the choke lever out as it doesnt seem to speed the engine in any way to keep it running! does anyone know anything about these bikes,is there a procedure of starting a cold engine on them and im doing something wrong? might sound silly but im a bit stuck im used to bikes with a choke lever you turn into posistion start your engine and then turn them off as you bike warms up but on the xs750 its all alien. any help apprisiated, thanks
