  1. Hello there;

    I'm doing a feature for MCN called `Why I had to have a 2004/05 Yamaha R1' and wanted owner opinions on handling, performance, reliability, mods made and of course, why you had to have that particular model.

    MCN would also like to see owner pics - head n shoulders type of thing - plus pics of R1s, especially those with modifications made. If you can spare 10 mins to chat, email me a contact phone number, or email your views plus pics to;

    [email protected]

    the deadline is Feb 27th 2006 by the way.

  2. There is only one answer???..

    Driving Test Question

    You are riding along a two lane road with a NO OVERTAKING sign,

    and come upon a slower bicycle rider.

    Do you follow this slow-moving bicycle rider for the next 2 miles, or do you break the law and pass?

    Which is the correct choice?

    Scroll down...

    Why take the chance? ;)

    REWY

    Hi, I got the same bike, same colour, the wheels are a bit boring arent they.

    I have just fitted red pinstripes, looks bloody brilliant for £6.

    A bike tuner told me never to powder coat my wheels as he saw a wheel lose a 4" chunk of rim, yamaha UK told him it was down to the heat treatment the wheel went through!!

    I'm thinking of spraying the wheel centres red to match the bike now; do you have the paint number? ;)

  7. Hi Chris and welcome. I had the same problem with my 03 model so took it to my local yam dealer, who is really helpful and he changed it for me but I can't remember quite how.

    I'll try and find out again for you.

    I know you turn the ignition on and as it goes through the diagnostic self test you hit 1 or 2 buttons below the speedo. It is a step through menu so you have to go through all of the setting to get to the one you want, make your changes and carry on to the end of the menu. If you stop and only do the rev limiter light and switch the ignition off, you won't of changed anything.

    Leave it with me and I'll get back to you. The other good thing is that you can adjust the brightness of that light which when riding at night is like having someone shine an interrogation lamp in you face.

    regards

    Rob..........

    Hi, I set mine to 100MPH so I know when I am up for a 'ban', if you still need the sequence I'll mail it to you as it's a bit of a drawn out affair to describe if you already have it...Tom. :D

  8. Ha all,

    I have purchased a 2005 R1 and want to change the exhaust, Im not sure which one i want though because there seems to be 1000's out there and no real standouts. Blue flame seem nice but i cant find any real data on power increase or DB ratings. Yoshi? Arrow?

    I have just been to the London bike show, most pipes now come with removable baffles, I would go for

    something with the biggest diameter tailpipe bore, something that makes the loudest noise, I think 180BHP

    should be enough for anyone; mine sounds sexy with its standard pipes!!!! :rolleyes:

  9. Hi, has anyone had experience of racing tyres on their road bike, I have just fitted a pair of Metzeler

    Racetec's to my YZF1000, it appears that the rear profile is more convex than standard as it almost

    contacts the front of the swingarm, I had to pack the hugger I fitted too as that was rubbing on the centre

    of the tyre.

    As the weather is icy at present I have not been able to get a proper feel for the tyres or compare the grip,

    I do know that the rear will spin out over large metal drain covers though!!

    Anyones experiences please? :unsure:
