  1. Hi all. On my R125 the other day, I was going along a smooth flat road, and as I coasted along (with only my right hand on the handlebars) I took my weight off the bar, as many do. Fortunately I had my hand still resting very lightly on the handlebars, as all of a sudden the front end started to wobbly VERY violently, with the bars vibrating from side to side. Could this be down to front wheel balance, or a sign of a bearing going, or perhaps something more serious? The front tyre has been on since new, and done about 12,500 miles. It's due for a change soon, probably next week as it has less than 2mm of tread now, but before taking it in I wanted to see if anyone else has resolved a similar problem, I'm guessing this applies to pretty much any bike out there! Thanks James.

    R125 question

Hi. I've an 08 R125, and have a question about the fuel guage I've recently had fitted a new set of dials under warranty due to the old set dying on me. Since then, the fuel guage seems to be at different levels at all sorts of random times. For instance, I rode 25 miles to work yesterday, knowing I started with a full tank, and when I arrived it showed that I had used half a tank full! Then by the time I'd got home again (another 25 miles) it was showing as empty. Then this morning, it was back up to 3/4 of a tank again!! Also, evey now and then the fuel guage flashes all seven segments at me, for up to an hour at a time, at random times. Is this something that anyone else has experienced?? Yes, I know, I should be taking it straight back to the dealer who did the warranty work, but wondered if there was a fix I could do myself to save them keeping the bike for a few days to diagnose! Cheers.
  3. Hi all. I was riding to work yesterday morning, and all of a sudden, the display went blank, and the rev counter stuck at 5000 rpm! Am about to pop to my local Yamaha dealer to ask them to take a look and find out what's gone wrong. Have checked the fuses in the fuse box, and can't see anything obvious with the wiring - just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem? All other electrics work okay - headlight, sidelights, indicators etc - just nothing on the instrument panel, so I don't know when I'm in neutral, or if I've got high beam on, or if the indicators are running. Oh - and also no fuel guage or speedo... BTW, it's an 08, currently with 11,600 on the clock. Cheers, James.

    R 125

Well, I've owned mine for 10 months, and covered 10,500 miles. Gradually over that time, it has slowed slightly - originally it would reach 75 after a nice flat straight, but now I struggle to maintain anything over 65 on the flat. Fuel pump recall been called in, but waiting for my local dealer to get the parts in.
  5. Hi all. My first post, so please be gentle! With all the rain that we had in the South East on Monday evening, I got thoroughly soaked on my way home from work. During the ride, the bike would occasionally splutter, and a couple of times it cut out. It started again relatively easily, but literally yards from home it died and wouldn't fire up again. It's now been sat in my garage drying out, and the problem still persists. A couple of things: 1) is this likely to be wet electrics? If so, what in particular? Are there vulnerable areas I could start with? 2) Seeing a post about fuel cap breathing just now, is this a likely cause? I've had it for about 8 months, and it's done just over 8000 miles (but not yet had the 8000 mile service) I now plan to check the fuel cap this evening, but does anyone else have any helpful additions to this? Many thanks. james12345
