Hi There I have been rebuilding a 1982 yamaha xj 650 it for the last year, the bike wasn't sold with indicators, but still.....I bought some and fitted them they should be on the bike, after a few crossed wires all indicators started working and got all lights etc working, but came to test today, first the left hand side stopped working, then the right failed, and also the horn has stopped too. I have tried testing the bulbs they are fine, tested the fuses with a volt meter they seem ok, I have done a reading earth frame to starter flasher relay with no reading, I am speculating that it's the flasher relay, could anyone shed any more light on this problem?. From a wannabe biker!!

Hi Can any one shed some light, I am putting my carbs back on to the engine but my paper gaskets have seen better days, I have bought some graphited SLS to replace but don't think this is the right stuff, should I have got oil paper??. Many Thanks Daz

Hi Can anyone help ? I am rebuilding my 82 yam xj 650, I will be putting my carbs on soon but the gaskets connecting them to the engine have seen better days, not sure which ones are these, I have bought some graphited sls but doesn't look or feel the same, I'm sure I need oil paper but not 100%. Hi Wonderded if anyone out there could shed some light, I am rebuilding my xj650 maxim, and can't find anywhere I can purchase decent main needle jets for carb plus a few other items like rubber boots for me calipers, wemoto and M&P have been helpful so has Ebay, but still limited I'm trying to find a british site for these items. can anyone help??? Hi I am rebuilding a 1982 yam xj650, I have a spare engine amongst other things like spare rubber boots/hoses that you are after. I reckon the 650 ones will fit yours. I have also seen these selling on Ebay new and old. What you reckon? Is yours from the maxim range?? Dazman!

Hi I'm rebuilding my 82 Yam xj 650 maxim, but struggling to find awkward parts like caliper boots and the main jet needles from the carbs, I have tried companies like Wemoto, M&P parts with no luck, just wondered if anyone out there with a xj 650 where do you get your parts from???. Any help is most welcome Thanks Daz

Hi Can anyone shed some light on something which should be obvious, I bought a 82 yam 650 maxim[as a bitsa project] which needed a rebuild, but there is something I can't figure out, I inspected the petrol tank and tap, the tap has two pipe fittings one main and one reserve, ok, I found the obvious main one to the carbs, but can't find where the other one is supposed to fit to the carbs ....or does it go somewhere else, air box, or wot???, or do I have the wrong carbs? I hope I have made sense, I bought a haynes but doesn't discuss anything about the second pipe??? Can any one help?? [Newbie bike builder] Daz
