  1. wow lovely colour never seen these on the roads :)

aaccording to some magazines it could be 1 of only 16 in the country the colour is better iin real life as it is a flip and changes colour

  2. This picture was taken at last years Dam Busters rally (hello if you were there) I have owned this bike for a number of years it has a Stan Stephens stage 2 and is a little missile and is one of my favourites B)dambustersrally2009003.jpg

  3. good bike but needs some extras on it, bit like mine has

came with fly screen, bash plate, seat pod, wavy discs, power commandor, leo vince cans, private plate all been done for me!!! :thumb:

  4. It depends what you want it for,,,,

Not much good if you are planning to cross the Atacama Desert, you'd be better with the XT X or Z,

If you just want a fun bike that's not going to spends it's life trying to rip up your licence, then yes it is.

The 660 motor is a rock, and you can free up oooooodlles of torque by getting rid of the Cat, opening the airflow and a bit of tinkering.

But realy, the MT's are a bit of a style thing, rather than a ride thing - they look very different.

See if you can dig out some posts from Barwell, he had one (maybe still has it)

  5. I fancy an MT-03 for every day use all year round what are they like? I have had a KTM+CCM in the past so know what to expect from a big single! any experiences shared welcomed.

  6. That could well be part of it if they never clear. Can you not show him how, you have a pretty good stroking knowledge (that came out wrong) judging by your bikes. Can you not show him how to ride it properly.

yeah!!! I do keep telling him he needs to use a bit more right hand, what more can I say?

  7. That i very much doubt, they are as nutty as a fruit bat same as here.

Back on topic, Is your bike modified at all, maybe a set of pipes. Maybe some halfwit in the past made some 'performance upgrades' or is it stock.

The engine has been rebuilt including crank reconditioned useing all genuine yam stuff throughout, running on standard exhausts, the numpty that owns it uses it to travel to work and back each day (around 3 built up miles) and he does not know how to ride a 2-stroke ( he plods) dont think this helps matters!

  8. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Are you on TDR250.co.uk, its another bunch of nutters with fortunately the same twisted, perverted and wholey un pc sense of humour as this lot. The site is deceptively busy not like here but you normaly get most things answerd in 24hours, less if its something juicy.

  9. Thanks a lot for the links, just what I need! :)

    Hi nets,

Thanks for the advice, I've decided I'm going to go for it (even though I've no room for another bike). Have you any pics of your DT1?

I wish I'd asked for advice here sooner, you guys have been very helpful :thumb: . Hopefully I'll have some resto pics to share over the winter :)

got loads of piccies if only i knew how to attach some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Hi everyone,

I'm a big fan of Yamaha 2-Strokes from the early 70's, especially the AT2, DT2, & DT360 singles (great memories). I've kept an eye on ebay & gumtree for ages, but nothing suitable/affordable ever showed up. Then, by accident, I discovered a 1972 DT2 sitting in a garage just a few miles from my house! :D. I almost bought it there and then, but I decided to check on some parts availability first.

The bike is almost intact, just missing indicators for road use. It runs, but needs constant throttle and is hard to start. I noticed some fluid on the flywheel, so I reckon that one (or both) main seals are blown. I've searched the net (bikebandit, etc) but I can't find anywhere with seals in stock (I guess a lot of DTs blew seals). Is there anywhere I can get oil seals to fit this bike? would seals with the same dimensions (for an outboard motor) be suitable?

Thanks for any help/advice you can give.

hi, I restored a 1969 dt1 over this winter in just over 5 months the bike was complete but very tatty i did not struggle to find any parts which nearly all came from america some took a little longer to source than others but found there was nothing i could not get as i replaced nearly everything with new inside and out, they are an excellent bike they don't come up for sale very often here so dont let parts availability put you off. speed and sport were great for parts but a bit expensive nw vintage cycle parts were excellent both are in the states and have websites delivery is around 2 weeks also worldwide ebay has hundreds of dt1/2 etc parts up for grabs. hope this helps
