  1. I took the plugs out & squirted a bit of two stroke oil into the bores. Kicked the bike over a few times. Dipped the plugs in petrol & shook off the excess, put a drop of petrol into the bores & refitted plugs . The bike strted 2nd kick.! After a minute or so the bike was ticking over & running beautifully. GREAT ADVICE - MANY THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP

  3. sorry for the duplication. The replies in the workshop section are very helpful & I'll be trying to get the bike going next week. I will post the results.
  4. my friend's 1981 LC350 has been in storage for approx 3 years. It was running fine up to that point. The fuel was drained before storing. We have put fresh fuel & two stroke in, stripped carbs & cleaned all jets/passageways. Fitted new spark plugs. There is good compression & a good spark. However it will just not fire & the plugs are bone dry. Therefore for some reason fuel is just not getting through. The reed valves look ok. I am out of ideas, and just wondered if anybody could think of anything else to try. Thanks

  6. The fork seals need doing on my 1996 XV750. The haynes manual says that all XVs after 1984 require a press & special tools to tackle this job and work should be undertaken by a yamaha dealer. I have changed seals on many Jap bikes before, by undoing the allen bolt that holds the slider into the bootom leg, and then using the "slide hammer" technique to separate the two & access the seal. This is usually detailed in the Haynes manuals so I am a little concened about their comments for the XV forks. Is there something different about XV forks! Has anybody out there tackled this job on a 1990's XV750? thanks
