  1. Thanks for all the advice it was very usefull. I have now got the bike running again. It turns out to have been a problem with an alarm that was wired to the bike years ago. I traced the wiring to and from the tci igniter and found that the red and white wire was wired into the black box of the alarm so I disconected it from the alarm and conneced it together bypassing the alarm and now the bike starts and runs fine, hope it stays that way. Cheers
  2. I had a similar immobiliser problem and was faced with big bills. I found the cheapest option was simple I phoned a company called track electronicks on 07776241421. They can sell you a new ECU without the yiis immobiliser allready chipped, just plug in and go with no immobiliser issues.
  3. Hello, I have a 2006 r6r and I have just re attached the cables from the servo to the exup valve. Because when I bought the bike there were no cables at all as the previous owner had used a race can which he kept. I have no clue as to the correct position of the cables and would appreciate some guidance or photos of the correct location of the 2 cables. Also when the cables are fitted should the valve be fully open or closed or somewhere inbetween? All help, advice welcome, thanks.
  4. Thanks folks, yes I have a hayns manual and will keep looking for the fault.
  5. I have a 1992 xj900f and have had nothing but electrick problems with it first the clock lights were working intermitently then the starter wouldnt operate from the switch. I have gone through all the connections and now the starter operates on the switch but theres no spark at the plugs anymore and the clock lights are perminantly off. What I would like to know is where to specificly look for a bad connection that would cause the bike to loose the spark.
  6. Thanks, unfortunatly when I bought the bike the guy I bought it from only had the one standard key and no red key and now that Ime having problems with the immobiliser I have no way of trying the code re registering red key. I have however found a company called track electronics who can sell me a chipped ECU that is the same as the standard one but without the yamaha immobiliser system for around £200 so unless I can sort the problem myself I will go for that.
  7. I was wondering just how the system works for the immobiliser on the 2006 r6r. The system comprises an ignition barrel with a built in reader that reads the key and an ECU. My main question is can the seporate parts of the system be replaced seporately or does the whole system have to be replaced if at fault, thanks.
  8. Any one know where I can find a list or table of the fault codes and there meaning for the 2006 r6r, thanks.

    Winter Riding

In winter theres loads of salt on the road and it causes the brake disks to rust so coat them with an ample coating of grease this will create a good barrier against the elements.
  10. I have an ongoing problem with my 2006 r6r. it is now showing error codes 53 and 00. any one know what these mean, thanks.
  11. I have an on going problem with the bike and now for the first time I also have fault code 53 and 00 displaying intermitently on the screen. I have tried looking up the codes and am still trying but cant seem to find these codes, any one know these codes.
  12. The good old XJ is reliable and cheap and easy to maintain with a simple air cooled engine which is much lower speck than the de tuned cbr600 engine in the hornet, but if its power you want the the hornet which is also in a higher insurance catagory is the one to go for with a top speed of around 150 mph and mind blowing acceleration. Its a tough choice of power and expence over budget economy.
  13. Yes I have done this but will re check all levels, thanks. I dont know what prevents the engine from starting the owners manual is vaig are you saying the engine has some sort of "self preservation system" that prevents it from starting if oil or coolent are low?
