I agree totally! I wanted an Arai Corsair RX-7 as Haga wears one. With the way he rides you got to trust your helmet! Also, Shinya Nakano crashing at over 200mph and surviving wearing his Arai is a good enough advertisement for me!

I fancy buying an Arai Corsair RX-7 Haga replica helmet. Is it a good or bad helmet? (I have fit tested one and it is really comfortable...) Also, what helmet do you wear? And why that helmet?

That looks really nice and not a bad price either... I see one for a Fireblade that was £140 Cheers again Druid!

Cheers for all the recommendations and comments. I was going to get a double bubble screen for the bike as the standard screen is too low for touring. As I am short (5'9,) I have found no issues with comfort on the bike or issues with being cramped. I dont see riding cross country being much of a problem (except maybe flattened tyres, lol) I would also like to get a tail-tidy for the R6, does anyone know if anyone does one?

Thanks forest, I hope to have my two-wheeled rocket soon

Hey Forest, I used to live in Beachely, Nr. Chepstow. My mum also used to work in Lydney, so I know the area quite well. When I have got my bike I'd be happy to go for a blast through the forest

I had heard there was an issue with viable test centres. Definatly going to have to do my test within 6 months now, lol Cheers Druid

6 months!? How come? Well, I plan to do it in Feb, so should be earlier the the 'new' cut off... Cheers

I didnt find the '08 model I sat on too bum high/head low, but, I am 5'9, so I wonder if that makes all the difference. I was hoping to get an '08 model onwards because it has the throttle chip which gives the bike a better full range grunt (I have been told.) I am 13 stone, so, is that too heavy for the 'little' '08 model? I would never race my friends, I am not that crazy! Sorry for the double post, I am doing this off my phone and it doesn't do quoting too well... Cheers

I found the seat quit comfy when I sat on it in the bike showroom. I was on it for about 30mins talking to the sales person. But, if all else fails, I can strap a pillow to the seat, lol. I am looking to either buy the bike out-right in cash or try to do the finance deal on an '08 onwards bike... Cheers

I am planning on touring Europe and the new R6 engine is the best (or so I have been told) for mid-range torque, which helps a lot when touring. I am planning to get the bike in April / May 2009, so, fingers crossed
-
I suppose that is true, but, I am intending to use this bike a lot, so I am looking for manufacturers warranty, reliability and the new R6 engine.

If you dont mind me asking, why an older model? All comments welcome

Hello all, I am joining this forum to hopefully get some information about R6's, what is best for them and hints a tips on anything from general up-keep, to best parts and servicing centres. I don't even have a bike or a bike license yet But, I am doing my theory soon (hopefully) and doing my DAS on or around Spring 2009. Anyway, my first bike (and this might be a bad idea) will hopefully be a '08 R6. The reason for this choice of bike is I intend to tour Europe with some friends I have that already have bikes, but, I want a bike that’s fun when I am at home too. Cheers for all the help you guys (and gals) can offer
