  1. Don't have an SR or I would try the fit. Any idea where I might acquire the specs for an SR and what specs I might need. Thanks
  2. For reasons beyond my control, I need to salvage as much of the investment from my XS400 project and downgrade to a SR125 or equivilent sized bike. Has anyone or does anyone know if I can use XS wheels (hubs - front and rear) on an sr125? I suppose the rear would be an issue due to the size of the drum. Swing arm? I would also extend this inquiry to whether the xs fork legs would fit the sr crown as the xs runs a drum brake and the sr's I have seen have single disc. I have over £1000 invested in the wheels and would like to avoid the loss in the sale of the bike. Any help is appreciated.
  3. I am interested in changing the front disc brake to a front Drum Brake hub. My problem is the tab that is on the suspension fork lower is not present on my disc specific suspension. Can I simply have the tab welded on or does the fork legs from a 360 slide/fit on to the stansions of a 400? If so does anyone know where I can source 360 forks? Thanks scd
  4. Has anyone lowered the stock forks on an XS400? I have an 81 and am interested in cutting the springs or inserting a spacer into the tubes. I cannot however figure out 1) how to open the damn things and 2) which method to follow. Any help always appreciated. Thanks
  5. Blank off the vacumm pipe? Is that simply plugging the hole in the carb with a rubber seal? Do the carbs work normally sans the vacumm hose? It seems my bike has a inline filter on the fule line and the stock intank tampon. It was set up like this when I bought it. Overkill? Why is the filter necessary? Gas is cleaner 30 years later, no? Thanks for the advice.
  6. Anyone out there have info on modifying a Harley Sportster Tank to work on an xs (xs400 in particular)? I am wondering if much has to be done as the Carbs are vacum carbs (whatever those are). There is also some sort of Tampon filter at the top of the petcock into the Stock tank, does this need to come over to the new tank? Any help appreciated.
  7. Thanks for the advice! The 400 has a single disk and a rear drum. I will look into trades thanks. Anymore detailed info is still welcome.
  8. Would like to lose my mag wheels in favor for spoked wheels. Does any one know if I can run any XS wheels or if I am limited to XS 400 wheels only? What are the considerations I need to learn? in any event, any idea where I can score some? Thanks
