  1. I bought an tinted iridium visor during the summer (hides my ugly face!!).

Its marked with the AGV logo, and stamped that its for daytime use only - but there's no mention of being legal / illegal for road use (as you would find on an exhaust)

Its def a big help on the way into work, country roads arent as much fun when you're blinded by the sun. But forget about it in the evening, once light fades you can see f*ck all thru it.

Guess its just personal choice at end of the day....

  2. Hi folks.

    SwordCombi.jpg

Firstly, what does everyone think of the new Rossi replica?

I currently use an AGV Ti-Tech helmet.

its quite comfy, little bit of wind noise but not a big problem.

BUT, i'm thinking of buying one of these new Sword replica lids.

Its based on a K3 helmet from lower in the AGV range (going by the price), so wondering would i be better to stick with what I have?

  3. Congrats Vic :elephant:

May cost you a bit in the early days, but great investment for later years, just think of all those spare rides you'll have to choose from

PS Carole Nash do some good multi-bike policies ;)

I'm a named rider on a multi-bike policy of my dads for his vintage bikes - must see if he can add few more names on!!

My mates & I are heading to a bike show in Belfast this weekend - my eldest son has made sure I know he's coming too.

He tells me he wants a new bike team jacket to wear to nursery - no bother, but must make sure its a Yamaha team!!

  4. New bike looks great Goff - hope you have many happy miles together.

But i'm sure you had a tear in your eye when saying farewell to Elvira.

If you ever wanna part company with your VFR, please gimme a shout as I'd be really interested. Thanks!

  5. Congrats on the new arrival!

Thanks Exile - I'm a County Down man myself!

Thanks everyone else - trying my best to increase the biking population (tho this is the last one).

Its def hereditary - i've ridden bikes since approx 6 years old and got my passion from my Dad & Granda.

Regular family trips out include all shapes of bikes from FZR, CBR600 & BMW R1100RS right thru to 1934 Velocette 250!

  6. Hi everyone!

Just thought i'd share the great news that my wife has given birth to our 3rd son!! :D:D:D

So that's gonna be another future biker.

My eldest son already has his request in for a motorbike for his upcoming 5th birthday (that's my boy!!).

They're gonna cost me a fortune over the next few years on bikes - and I don't care cos it'll be worth every penny.

I'm also trying encouraging my wife to do her bike test.

Think biking is definately in the blood..... :D

  7. Hi folks!

Have found pics of an FZR identical to mine (pre-accident) so thought i'd share, let you see what my pride & joy looks like! :):)

Has anyone any recommendations on where to get graphics for my bike? Cant wait to get it back on road!

Need both sides of fairing plus screen unit though will buy full set if easier.

    Thanks for looking!

  8. this may sound stupid, but my speedo stopped working recently & i have no idea what speeds i was hitting on the twisty country roads going to work, but it was quick enough to get the blood pumpin but still be enjoyable.

i think its all in context about the road, the bike, etc.

if it makes u grin, doesnt matter if its 40 or 140 !! :)

  9. i totally agree about greedy gits trying to exploit bikers with extortionate prices.

recently spotted voltage regulator (used, not tested, no returns) for my FZR priced buy it now @ £80 plus £10 postage!

I bought some other bits recently & seller thru one in for free!

the other thing that infuriates me is dumbass ebayers who don't leave feedback after a transaction is completed.

may sound like a stupid rant - but how are you meant to build up a rep if morons dont have the manners to acknowledge that you're not a con artist!!!

  10. Hi Everyone!

First - Happy new year to everyone! Thanks for all the help i received in 2008, all greatly appreciated.

I'm keen to expand my knowledge about the different variations of my bike (3HE FZR600) and indeed the Yamaha range, cos I love my bike to bits! I've been tryin to find bits for my bike and am intrigued by the differences.

Don't wanna just ride the bike, wanna learn bit more about it, was wondering if anyone can recommend good sources of info ?

Thanks, look forward to any responses.

    Vic.

  11. Hi folks!!

Just wondering if anyone has grafted a newer seat / tail unit onto a 3HE FZR?

Seen pics of streetfighters with R6 conversions and think it looks quite good (tho can understand its not everyone's taste).

Is it a lot of work, as i'm about to strip my bike down for some rework and tempted to give it a shot.

Thanks - look forward to hearing responses.

  12. Also a possible short cut may be drying your battery. Check with the multimeter the continuity with the frame of the bike.

    Thanks

A previous owner has replaced the indicators with aftermarket ones (i intend to return to standard), so maybe a dodgy wire somewhere.

Would this cause the bulbs to pop?

  13. Please stop yelling. Typing in all caps is considered rude, kinda like yelling in someones face.

Based on the description it sounds like the voltage regulator has gone bad. Often they cause not enough voltage, but it sounds like in your case it's too much, this will boil the battery dry and blow bulbs. You will need to replace the regulator, if you don't know how to do this you should get the shop manual or pay you local shop to replace it.

OK, thanks for the help, will check out the regulator.

As regards the typing in caps, didn't know it was considered rude - I'm not a big forum user.

  14. HI ALL.

MUCH AS I LOVE MY FZR, ITS STARTING TO DRIVE ME MAD.

AS I MENTIONED IN LAST POSTING, I WAS SEEKING HELP TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM WHERE BIKE KEEPS RUNNING BATTERY CELLS COMPLETELY DRY.

NOW, BIKE HAS ALSO DEVELOPED AN UNHEALTHY APPETITE FOR HEADLIGHT BULBS!

BULBS WERE REPLACED ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, BUT DIPPED FILAMENT HAS BLOWN ON BOTH SIMULTANEOUSLY.

NORMALLY NOT HUGE DEAL BUT MY JAP SEC BULBS COST £38 PER SET - SO I'M SURE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND MY FRUSTRATION!!!

ANYBODY HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS OR GOT ANY IDEAS?

OH, AND HOW DO I ADD PICS? WANTED TO ADD ONE OF MY BIKE TO LET EVERYONE SEE.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DECAL SUPPLIERS? AN ELDERLY GENTLEMAN CAR DRIVER (aka DANGEROUS SENILE OLD GIT) DECIDED MY BIKE WOULD BE BEST SUITED SLIDING ON ITS SIDE INSTEAD OF RIDING NORMALLY, SO GAVE ME A HAND. EVEN NICER, HE DIDNT EVEN STOP SO I COULD 'THANK' HIM. SO THINK I'VE FOUND A FAIRING BUT WILL OBVIOUSLY NEED DECALS TO SUIT.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ANY FEEDBACK RECEIVED

    ViC

  15. HI FOLKS - ITS ME AGAIN!!

STILL USING MY FZR EVERYDAY AND LOVING IT!

BUT ANOTHER NEW PROBLEM HAS RAISED ITS HEAD AND I'M SEEKING HELP FROM YOU EXPERTS.

I GOT MY BIKE IN MAY, AND PUT A NEW BATTERY IN IT COS IT HAD SAT FOR 2 YEARS IN A GARAGE.

BUT FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE THEN, BATTERY HAS COMPLETELY DRAINED, INCLUDING DRYING THE CELLS.

IS IT OVERCHARGING OR HAS ANYONE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM?

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!

  16. Hi Folks,

I own a '92 3HE FZR600 Genesis (tho its says 1994 on V5 doc), which I use daily and enjoy.

But wanted opinions from other owners. My bike really doesnt seem to like pulling away too well when below 3000 rpm and I find myself dropping gears to overtake people. Bike pulls well through the range apart from that.

Is this normal - or should I be worried?!?!?!?!

Also on the lookout for an exhaust and engine casings ( to replace minor damage caused by previous owners ) if anyone has anything out there for sale! :-)

Looking forward to hearing from other owners!

  17. UPDATE -

I FOUND THE BULBS I NEEDED!

DESPITE MAIN AGENTS ALL BEING STUMPED, I SPENT A WHILE ON GOOGLE AND DISCOVERED THE BULBS I NEEDED WERE ACTUALLY USED IN JAP IMPORT CARS (EVIDENTLY MY BIKE HAS BEEN AN IMPORT). SO WENT TO MY LOCAL MOTOR FACTORS, QUOTED P30T AS THE BULB REF AND BINGO!!! QUITE EXPENSIVE AT £19 EACH, BUT CANT REALLY DO WITHOUT THEM!

THANKS FOR ALL REPLIES - HELP MUCH APPRECIATED.

  18. I bought a set of XENON HEADLIGHT BULBS the blues ones and i have used the H4 but i cut it down to fit

    as it was too big

my right bulb is a H7 but that fitted ok:)

Thanks for the reply, all responses are greatly appreciated!!

Did you cut the terminals down too, cos they're way too big for my connections to fit onto?

  19. HI EVERYONE

I RECENTLY ACQUIRED AN FZR600 GENESIS.

V5 REGISTRATION DOCUMENT SAYS ITS A 1994 BUT CHECKS USING FRAME NUMBER (BEGINS 3HE) SAY 1992.

BOTH HEADLIGHT BULBS NOW NEED REPLACED BUT I'M HAVING A NIGHTMARE SOURCING ANY.

EVERYONE I'VE TRIED SO FAR (INCLUDING MAIN AGENT DEALERS) SAY I SHOULD BE USING H4 BULBS BUT THESE ARE TOO BIG - BOTH DIAMETER OF FLANGE AND LENSE ITSELF. ELECTRICAL TERMINALS ON REAR (THERE'S 3 OF THEM) ARE ALSO TOO WIDE ON H4 BULB

WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN HELP A BIKER IN NEED BEFORE I GO MAD????????

    THANKS

    VIC
