  1. Hi guys i was on my tzr and out in the rain and i drove home, changed the jets in my carb my mom bought me, ran it up and down the drive and let it idle in the garage for about 20 seconds and it cut out as if a wire was bridged. My killswitch has already been bypassed and its not my stand switch. There is only 0.06 volts going to the coil and normal voltage (9.6/10/11v) i think going to the live wire on the cdi unit. There is no visible spark at all and holding the spark plug and turning it over does not shock me at all. Has anybody else had this problem before or does anybody have any ideas or a way of testing the cdi unit? Many thanks, Alex
  2. *bump* Somebody has got to know what this mite be surely guys. Somebody has said it may be the flywheel nut isnt tightened enough. I have had the flywheel nut off and tried to pull of the flywheel with a screwdriver (amateur i know) and tightened it back by putting a screwdriver inbetween the flywheel teeth. do you think this might be the problem?
  3. Hi guys, iv got a tzr 50 and after changing a waterpump and not touching any wires i have had no spark at all. My girlfriends dad came round my house last night and we got alot of spark out of it(by messing with wires and pushing them together), before it used to spark once every 6 seconds but now it is sparking how it should but it does not stay constant all the time and is not enough to power the bike. We have tried a new coil, tested sidestand switch, and the little black boxes with 4 pins coming out of them. When we messed with the little box (not cdi) next to the flasher relay it seemed to be better at sparking, we found that 1 of the connectors that join together are slightly different types. I.e the one has the hole for 1 to clip on, but the other end is a different type of join. They fit fine and the wires are both the same. I have cleaned the earth and all the connectors i can get to and still the same spark. Any ideas guys? I was told it may be the cdi but i am getting a decent spark just very intermittent. We checked the coil and cdi with a multimeter and the cdi wa fine but one of the coil terminals read opposite. Thanks in advance guys
  4. Well i accidentally bought a new ignition coil off ebay thinking it was the cdi, so i have a new one of those and theres an ebay shop that sells unrestricted am6 engine cdis for 9 quid so i think il be having one! The shops first priority was to check the timing btw. Thanks
  5. Hi there, i have a Yamaha tzr 50 and it has no spark at all. My local garage (1st gear motorcycles) have had no luck with it. They have tested all they can and they say it should be working fine... it isnt. They said the only thing they havent tested is the cdi unit. So i am looking to buy this (http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/p/ATHENA-UNLIMTED-REV-CDI-UNIT---675.aspx) it is for all motor minarelli am6 engines, it says. And my tzr 50 is infact a motor minarelli am6. So they havent got on the list of bikes it will work with, my tzr 50 or the mbk xpower 50 which are both the same. Should i take a risk and hope for the best??? Thanks guys
  6. Hi i didnt take off the flywheel, all i took off was the nut in the center of the flywheel (photo is the furthest i got taking it apart) and turned the flywheel a bit. My problem is that i dont know how to set the flywheel in a certain position (locking it?) and where to line the notch with. There is a rectangle ish sort of piece on the bottom left side of the flywheel cover where there are some marks (small dot and a line i think). Could somebody tell me what I need to do step-by-step from the beginning please if you can? Thanks guys
  7. Hi guys, i've got a 05 tzr 50 and as you may know it had a waterpump problem which i have now sorted. Whilst i was trying to fix it i unscrewed the flywheel (i read the manual wrong) and since then i have no spark. There is a timing notch on the flywheel itself but there is nowhere that i can see where to line it up with on the outer case I have no spark what so ever and this is the only possible reason as it was fine before i fiddled about with it. I have an old neon lunar timing light that i was going to use for static timing but i cant find in the user manual or the service manual or anywhere at all what the tdc angle is or anything. Could anybody please help me out here as i have to book the bike in for its mot within the week. Thanks guys
  8. Hi all, i am working on my yamaha tzr 50 and i need to remove the waterpump impeller. It moves with the crank and when i hold the crank i cant spin the waterpump. How do i remove it please, any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S i have the case off and there is no nut on the impeller and i also have the crank side off. Thanks
  9. Hehe thanks i like i too I havent had the chance to check the oil, but on the way back from getting the bike the bloke rang me and told me his son drained the oil and it was milky and so he would give me 100 quid to fix it, which he has. Would changing the head be something easy to do for me as i havent done it before, but i have been inside 4 stroke engines and they p*ss me right off! I will have to take off the fairing and have a look at the oil after running it for 20 minutes or so and maybe it wont be that bad. If it is bad then i will just save myself some cashola and do the whole thing myself as im sure 2 stroke heads are just 4 bolts and then woop there off. I would hate after all this to find out that it was just condensation though!
  10. Hi guys, i have a 2005 Tzr 50 (in photo) and the oil that is in the gearbox is milky. I believe it to be the WaterPump seal or the head gasket, more likely the water pump. I need some help on what to do basically. The guy i bought the bike off kindly have me £100.00 to fix the problem so i am now looking for the parts. I can get hold of a waterpump kit for 11 quid off ebay but i cant find a head gasket that will fit mine. The bike to me does not seem to be lacking power and the powerband kicks in very well and i have had 46mph out of it with somebody on the back in 3rd gear out of 6, without powerband. However when i am pulling off from a hill i need to give it quite a few revs for it to pull off and my brother who had an rs50 doesnt think this is right. Does anybody here know what the problem is likely to be, head gasket or waterpump?? thanks guys
  11. Sweeeeeeet! I wonder if he can deliver to their other shop in stoke for a small fee lol. Il ring them on friday then! Thanks m8
  12. Haha I like it and no i have to sell my car first and its going on ebay as we speak! Cant wait. Hope its not a pricey deposit
  13. Nope im from wolverhampton, which is close to gear4bikers in stoke, but when i went onto the website it says the actual dealer is in nottingham! Its only an hour away from where i live. But your sure hes ordering more blues in? because on his autotrader he says theres limited stock, or is that just an advertising technique
  14. Thats the only place i have found that do them! Do you know if they have many in stock. Im feelin a blue one not the red. i emailed them last week and have i had a reply. No lol. Once i sell my car i will be on the phone straight away Cheers mate:)
  15. Ye i do hate the sound of mopeds but they look to dangerous and too gay for me. Having done motocross i couldnt possibly get a twist and go. having a constant buzz, hate it! With the tzr i would derestrict it obviously and put a new arrow exhaust on and bigger carb and reeds so it doesnt sound so bad and then when im 17 get an 80cc big bore kit on maybe.
  16. Well i would like to get a 125 or something bigger in a years time but my cousin lost his arm on a gsxr 750 and my mom and the rest of my family dont even want me to get a 50cc but i have pursuaded them. But they are not likely to let me have a bigger engine. I do have 7000 in an account so far and my mom will give me some money to buy the best car i can, so really money next year isnt an issue. And we already have 2 cars we dont use, a newish polo ( to learn in) and a y reg mini so to be honest i would probly keep it, coming on 2 years. I just dont want a second hand 50cc because these are all 16 year olds bikes who the majority dont know how an engine works or how to ride them and i dont know the history of them. So with that in mind do you think i should get a new one??? Thanks guys
  17. Hi guys, as im sure you all know i am new to this website and i would like you guys to share some of ur wisdom with me. Well my problem is that i have £2400 lying in my pocket and i would like to buy a Yamaha tzr 50 and not some shi%^ty rs50 or s.s.s.scooter I would like to ride to places in style like you guys and not like these ch^vs on peds I have found a place that sell new tzr 50's for 2000 which i think is very good, considering an rs50 new is £2600. I would by one today but my mom is giving me the talk about how somebody else should suffer the depreciation and not me, but the truth is i want a bike that somebody hasnt thrashed or scratched and i can only find that on ebay. In a year and a half i dont think i would loose too much because a scratched tzr50 2004 is selling for £1100 and im not likely to ruin mine as i love motorbikes and i recently gave up motocross. Basically could somebody please jus give me so reasons why i should get a New TZR insted of an 04 one and say some words on the depreciation please (earliest from 08) because my mom would like so professional advice from you guys. Thanks alot Alex
