  1. nice job mine cost me 150 quid a mate was painting a black bmw so he done my body work for me result or wot

hell yeah. i was so nervous going into it. only ever sprayed a snowboard before, and this was my pride and joy. the final sanding of wet and dry before polishing got me working up a sweat that had nothing to do with the heat lol

lovely bike though my friend. love the white, are those decals or spray?

  2. im fairly new to riding. ive had one bike before my present r6, it was a honda cbr and i never had any trouble pulling away or slow speed control. however on my r6 my clutch feels,, wrong? it only comes into action about 1 cm before its end. and ive tried adjusting it by the adjuster right of the handle. but no sucsess. i find its just not enough play to pull away smoothly. its either all on or all off.

is it the way they are and just me? my friends gixer has about an inch and a half of play and i can ride it much more efortlessly.

any help welcome as a new clutch is about 200 quid including laybour...trying to avoid it if possible lol

    cheers

  3. i wanted to start racing this year, or take the school just to enhance my ridding and for a bit of fun. does anyone know what time of year the schools run and how much it costs to get through the whole thing?

i live in the south west. (bristol) so schools nearish to that area would be beter, though, i havnt heard of many.

    cheers

  4. R6's don't get going until 4000rpm anyway, so to be honest your unlikely to notice much performance difference, all though it could smooth out the throttle responce a bit, however if you lean it out the engine will run hotter and maybe this isn't a good thing at lower revs.

the only reason im considering it, is because its so bad that the bike stalls on me at junctions, or when i try to control it at low speeds. i give it some revs and it kicks in two heartbeats later and spins off like a rocket.

  5. Dont know what youve done when you did it and what with, Can you fill us in, theres too many blanks at the moment

i used halfords. two coats of primer, three coats of black, then three coats of laqur. i used 600 and 1200 sandpaper inbetween coats and did a wet/dry rubdown before hand. thats about it.

    cheers

  6. i wana spray my bike, pretty simple, black and a few stencils here and there, ive sprayed my snowboard before, with primer, 3 coats then clear coats to finish,,,ect is it the same thing?

do the metal parts, like wheels and tank, require anything more than the fairing?

    cheers

  10. hey,

im looking for some advice as its my first post of many i hope..

im about to complete my direct access course and i like the look of the R6 very much.

Is this an okay for my first bike? I've been driving cars for over 10 years now but its my first bike.

I get different opinions from different people. Some people say the R6 is not very forgiving so im a bit worried now. Having said that im not stupid, and these people are probably talking about when really pushing it which I wont be doing..

    Any opinions about this?

    Many thanks,

ive only just passed my das in february. my first bike was a cbr600f. its an amazing learner bike with potentioal to keep you thrilled for years of learning. its cheap, reliable and easy to ensure.

but then i got hit by a car lol.

so my next bike was a r6. ive always loved the looks and i was learning very fast on my cbr, so people warning me of a bike ment for the likes of bayliss didnt bother me too much.

i found it too be a bit bouncy at standard setup, but u can alter that on the forks very easily. the bike does give you the impression its taking you for a ride, (but this is prob just cuz im learning) and if you ever go in too hot theres enough give to control it and ive never had any dificuilty riding it.

infact, i bloody love the thing and would recomend it to anyone new or old to riding!!

do check second gear thoroughly when test riding. they are said to be a problem at 15-20000 miles.

oh and the insurance for me, they took into account id been driving four years, so you having ten years should be fine. im with norwitch union, found through gocompare.com, for £450 tpft. and thats wiht all the trimings liek BD cover ect. only 50 pounds more than the cbr.

hope you pass your test and enjoy years of riding!

  11. my r6 hasnt got a full sevice history and its playing up. im guna get a full service done, does anyone know roughly how much a full service will cost for a r6? it probs needs rejetting too.

just so i know how much not to spend this month!! lol

    muchos cheers'os

  12. hi guys, this is really an ongoing problem, but now its got me terified of riding the bike. before i sepnd heaps on it just wanted some advice.

my bike has a race exhaust on it with no baffle, im sure it hasnt been jetted but im told this may not be the problem.

what happens is when i pull away on a flat eaven surface its giving me delayed power. i pull back throttle, power comes a second later. if i try to pull away at an angle or on a cambre it just stalls or i have to rev the tits off it to get it going. both not really fun when a car is coming at u from the side!

ive been told to fix the plugs, carbs, air filter, clutch...ect. anyone recon they can pinpoint it?

or direct me to a trusted garage in the south west region, i live in bristol and i dont want to go too far.

    cheers for any input

  13. hey guys. me and my friend are planning a trip to nurburgring this september. but theres stil a few thigns we need to clear up. firstly, what are the regulations on protective clothing? can u wear anythign as long as it has protective armour in? i ask because were ridding the whole way and wed rather wear our textile two piece zip together stuff that all in one leathers in case it rains.

second part is do they have anywhere to lock up gear. were hoping to camp so we would need lockers to put our gear in when were on the ring. either that or we stay at a b & b.

thirdly, how strict are the tests before you go onto the ring? is it just a sound check or is it more severe?

and last of all, does anyone have any recomendations, best time to go in the week, places to stay, thigns to do? just to help out.

    cheers

    david
