Hiya Bornard,
Welcome aboard and good for you, don't matter how old you are, it's in the blood
Shame you're so far away, I've got some free time for the frst time in years, but I'm about 250 miles away, by the time I met up with I'd be heading back home for dinner
Sounds like you are doing just the right thing, plenty of practice and going at your own pace, and every single person here has stalled at some time, trick is to do the Mr Bean tsch tsch, shake of the head, roll of the eyes and blame a dodgy bike

Great pics, was a super weekend !
I'm off to Mersea myself next month, going to Bum in the Mud rally, be on the Harley though.
-
If you fall, get up and keep going. Have fun
LOL I said to my mate, hope first thing they teach us is best way to pick the bike up off the turf
Don't care about falling off, I reckon I'm gonna get durrrrteeee ....
SWW ... loose as a goose

Mate of mine is doing a charity ride to Peru and one of her sponsors is the Army.
The White Helmets donation to the ride is a free off road training weekend at Bovington Camp in Dorset......
and I have been invited along
Always wanted to have a go at this, I love mountain biking and skiing and was always up to my neck in muck as a kid so I reckon this is going to be a fun weekend. Just waiting for the bumpf to come through the post, but any experienced mud skidders on here can offer some words of wisdom so I get the most out of the 2 days ?

If I had to name the 1 record that really sticks in my mind (coz I cant pick an outright fave) it would be
Karn Evil 9 - from ELP's Brain Salad Surgery

iv already bought it though
but i dont get it untill june any way because of the colour that i wanted it in il be glad to get nodded to by other bikers aswell because where iv been riding a moped i dont get nodded back at
So you have bought a bike you cannot control for a bit of kudos?
Don't get me wrong, it's a cracking bike, but seriously get yourself some post DAS training on it as soon as it arrives.
Doesn't matter how much off road practice you've done, at 17 you don't have a lot of traffic experience, that coupled with a bike that is much more powerful than you are used is potentially dangerous. At the very least get yourself along to the nearest Bikesafe day after it arrives.
Sorry for sounding like an old fart, but the fact you have ordered the bike without considering the insurance first suggests you're an impulsive kinda guy Just don't want those impulses getting you into strife
As for the insurance, phone up, the internet quotes are not geared up to give the best quotes for new riders and restricted bikes, you're better off actually talking to a person.

Glad it was a 'Miss' Halhark, shame of it all is the twat pootled off on his merry way believeing he'd done nothing wrong at all and that he's a good driver!
I must say I am a regular user of the button under the indicators, even if they may have seen me, quick beep and a nod as I go by just to say 'thanks for noticing me'
Scary though how many drivers visibly jump when I use the horn, like where the feck did that come from ?

Have you moved to the USA Steve ??
Gas-Up ....showing your age Bud
Prom is the modern term for the old 6th Form Dance
Hey Steve, know anyone with a decent American Car or hotrod (I mean a real American Car!)
Have a Google on local Amercan and Hotrod forums see if anyone does events with their ride, my mate used to do loads of proms with a 1960 convertible Cadillac.

I get flashed by other PT Cruiser drivers, I have a few chrome bits on mine, but it's not totally blinged up like some of them. It's my shopping trolley first after all.

Sun is shining in London town
Loverly day for a ride - even into the City.
How did it go Russ?

Hi Royston
There's a healthy band of YBR'ers on here so you're in good company.

Congrats Parkey!
Welcome to the world of R6ers !
That link Gas Up posted loks great -Do It! and Bike Safe, will help build confidence and instill good habits before the bad ones creep in.
Apart from the power, difference you will notice on the R6 is gear range, it loves to be revved and bends you would take in 3rd on an ER5 (or whatever you DAS'ed on) are better handled in 2nd on the R6. If anyone in your area is doing a slow riding course, get to it, the R6 needs slightly different handling and a supervised practice session will do heaps for your control and confidence.
Have a great summer, and stay safe

ohh pint of Broadside for me please
Et Bienvenue!

Hiya,
First of all what you doing skiving off to Maccy D's on a Monday when the rest of us are at work
Re the questions, you'll be safe for 20 miles on a fazer, I get that out of my R6 once the light and countdown marker come on.
Sorry, cant help with the steering bit, except try an r6 then you'll think the Fazer turns on sixpence!
For accessories, ie fancy bike bits, Powerbronze do some loverly stuff.
Busters also do huggers, undertrays etc, if you order from them, get it all at once as I have found stuff comes in and out of stock.
Don't use one myself (yet!) but have heard only good things about gel seats, have a scan through the touring sections, bound to be some folks on there with customised seats.
One other tip, if you haven't already, get your suspension set up by a specialist, makes a big difference in comfort and handling, costs £80 - £90 down here (cheaper oop north I believe )
Where abouts are you based and which part of London do you commute to ?

I have Zero Gravity, both for quality of material (less likely to crack) and best fit.
However that Powerbronze one sounds like a deal, their stuff is usually good.

LOL Drewps swerve and sophisticated !
BWJ, is this something you have read on a US forum/site perchance? Only it sounds like an Americanism referring to countersteering. You can move you body all you like, if you don't countersteer you won't get around the hazard.
Theres a village on my way home with a series of 8 manholes in quick succession set out like a Twister mat, I love weaving around them just nudging the bars

I even nod when I'm on my Harley

Hi Guys
Been riding a dt 125r (2006 reg) in london on a CBT for 3 months....going to take my full license (restricted for 2 years) in the next 2 weeks.
I'm doing a 3 day course with Metropolis in london, 3rd day includes the test.
I would like to find out if anyone has done their bike test on a dt 125?
To get the license the bike must hit at least 62mph....I think mine tops out at 65mph but it does take a good push and strech to get there...Do you think I'll be ok with this?
The other thing is that although i'm quite comfortable i'm still quite cautious when riding specially when doing u turns and slow riding...like to keep my foot close to the floor just in case. LOL
Any advice on practicing for the test day?
Cheers Guys. (Yamaha DT 125 for life)
Slow riding:
Keep the revs up, slip the clutch, drag the back brake, focus on where you are going (ie not the curb) do not touch the front brake.
Practice doing Ueys and figures of 8 in a carpark
Favorite record ?
