  1. Are they the market leaders 'Oxford Hot Grips' ? If so read your istructions carefully because i have heard that the controller will somehow switch them off somehow when they are not being used, dont ask me how because i dont know, but if its true it will save fitting a relay. Wiring instruction will come with the product i expect. i'm gonne get myself some soon so will be going down this route myself!

Yep, just read through the insructions and the controller will switch the grips off when the battery voltage gets to 11.5 volts, which they say is enough to re start the engine!...Read it Here ;)

No m8 they are Halfords GT moto hot grips and it dose say best to wire to ignition (which i have no clue how to do)

    rather than straight to battery

  2. Ok guys

my wife got me a set of Heated Grips for crimbo.....

I know nothing about wiring on a bike put it this way im ok wiring up a plug thats about it.

one thing i do know is that i dont want to go straight to the battery incase i forget to turn them off.

I have see that some people have done them in to the lights. ....is this ok?

If so is there anybody out here who can explain how to wire them into something else onto the bike

and i mean explain as if you are trying to tell an idiot lol

    hope you guys can help

    stevo

    oh im on a FZ6 2004

  3. Was just wondering about safe filtering??

Getting ok on the wee thing and i think its about time to cut through the traffic.

When to do it and at what opportunities, also could anyone clear up the laws of filtering?

Its what i got the bike for in the first place!!

    Cheers again, Kev.

Have you ever thought of Joining the IAM............SKILLS FOR LIFE

    http://www.iam.org.uk/eshop/membershipshop/sfl.htm

Im doing mine now over half way there some ppl think its for old men BUT ill tell you now I WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE

you will learn all aspects of advance riding which also covers filtering and for £80 aint bad once you pass you get discount on your insurance too plus others discounts

  4. if you are filtering up to a red light at a pelican crossing NEVER go to the front stay behind the first car until it has moved from the crossing.

if you DO go to the front and pull away from the front car/van ect it is classed as overtaking on a pelican crossing and that WILL get you 3points+

  5. it will be longer and it depends on the person and what training you get if it will be harder. When i did my Test it was easy. But when I did my IAM it was hard.

I passed my DA last year but im now 3/4 through my IAM and yes that is a head F**k

But it is worth it so anybody thinking of doing please do it will save your life

  6. try and double check that your indicators are switched off after a turn. cancel them then do again just in case, as i failed for it .

I passed a junction with indicator on still very dangerous (yes i know im a Muppet but it is easy to miss)

also don't pull to close behind a cars at the lights if you stop leave your self room

on your U turn do a good shoulder check if you move more than two car lengths do another b4 you turn

most of all relax and enjoy the ride, if you are all stiff and tensed then it will show on your riding

Good luck mate im sure you will do well

    hope this helps:)

let us know how you get on

    Stevo

  7. quality looking job that! :D

yeah didn't take long being a square block the hard part was done just milled a 22.5 mm hole for the bars then two bolt holes then cut in half then milled a hole down for the tripod bit to bolt through. to Finnish it off i gave it a brush Finnish to match the bike:)

  8. bought a cheap camcorder last week and was wondering how to mount to the bike.

the price for these camera mount are way over the top.

so i nipped into my dads shed and found a block of ally after 40mins of miling and cutting i came up with this...

    DSC00020.jpg

I took the top piece from an old tripod i had:)

this is a small clip from the camcorder fitted to the bike it was about 7:45pm so the light was fading but the quality is good still

  9. Welcome, ST3V0.

I've always had a soft spot for Fazers. Although the current, detuned R6 version comes in for some stick (too revvy etc). I think it looks gorgeous. There's something about that underseat pipe that finishes it off so well.

You'll need to prove your worth in here, mind, if you persist in devotion to any Honda. Sorry - I'll need to wash my mouth out now..... ;).

Its bloody frustrating as i had this bike since Saturday and i still haven't had a chance to ride it.

    due to no road TAX

can't get the tax until my insurance sends me the cover note

so the Honda is the only comparison i have at the moment.

so im sory ya gonna have to put up with me going on about it until i get to ride FZ hehehehehe

  10. This is my first yamaha

it a 2004 model but already there are a few rusty bits poking through, is this normal for a fairly new bike or am i just unlucky?

theres not much rust but its starting

I picked it up 2days ago.

sorry guys BUT this is the bike that has really stolen my heart tho

i have got to sell it but im finding it hard to tho lol

    me.jpg

This bike is 20 years old has done 78 thousand miles and still runs great no leaks no shaking , no weird noises.

    just a fantastic ride

  11. Good luck with the rebuild m8

I have just done up an 1987 VFR750

it looks great and sound great and runs like a dream.

i have been doing 500 miles a week on it and never misses a beat.

but now i have just bought a 2004 FZ600s for the miles as it will be more comfortable
