  1. Hi there, I have a 2003 R6 and had the TPS (throttle position sensor) changed about 3 months ago, I fitted a power commander and used one of the maps from the web, the bike has been running fine for around 2 months, last weekend went for a blast and the bike kept cutting out but only when I stopped at traffic lights, so basically no idle whatsoever, when I switched the ignition off and then on again the bike ran fine for a few hours then did it again, is it possible that the power commander is causing this problem? because I haven't had a custom map created specifically for my bike? also I used super unleaded petrol a couple of times while out due to the garages in the sticks not having normal, could this cause a problem? Someone told me your only really supposed to use super unleaded 1-4 with normal unleaded, is this true? Thanks in advance

  3. Hey guys, My R6 (03) went to the local stealership to have a new tps fitted, I'm now being told the onboard computer is not allowing any changes, apparantley it skips through the normal procedure without giving the option to change any settings! grrr! the really really annoying thing is that the bike was running perfectly until it went for a service and now I've had problem after problem!!!! Any clues? my stealership guy is kinda lost and he's having to contact Yamaha for assistance, hmmmm thing is I would really like to ride the thing this summer!!!!
  4. Hmmmm interesting, I've reluctantly ordered the part from Yamaha costing £77, the dealer is charging me 1.5hrs labour to fit but I may just try and fit it myself, I'm getting increasingly fed up with being sucked dry by the leeches!!! All pointers extremely welcome!!!!

    Coincidence?

I have a R6 (53 plate) which has suddenly developed the dreaded TPS (throttle position sensor) fault, basically the engine keeps cutting out luckily this has only happened while idling usually sat at lights in neutral, I've spoken to my local yamaha dealer who initially told me there was a product recall on my model, I've also read various posts on the R6forum detailing the same problem, one particular guy had a major accident due to the engine cutting out during an overtaking manoeuvre which resulted in the poor fellow clipping an oncoming car and is now unable to ride ever again! After speaking to Yamaha themselves apparently the R6 was never recalled with this problem it was the FZR that had the problem hmmmmm!!! Why is there so much confusion between Yamaha and the dealers and why are they not singing from the same hymn sheet and why the hell are they not listening to the guys riding the bikes, I cannot believe that this is a coincidence!!! I've now gotta fork out £150+ to get a new TPS fitted, thanks Yamaha! I love my bike but with the lack of post sales service and confusion from Yamaha I'm seriously considering buying a Honda next time round!!! Anybody else experienced the TPS problem?
  6. Hello all, I've got a wonderful R6 (2003) rides like a dream! I'm thinking of changing the profile of the front tyre from 65 to 60, I've been told this increases handling especially into bends, has anybody done this? does it increase handling round bends? what are the pro and cons? Current tyres are stock Dunlops and I'm thinking of getting Michelin Pilot Power. Thanks for your time. MrF
