Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction, Bike has new battery and fuses are OK, getting 12v after fuses but no lights or dash or relay click. I'm a bit stuck on where to go next, is there a way of testing relays? Is bad starter relay going to give these simptoms? Any advice is welcomed

Hi I'm having a little problem getting the xj600 90 reg started, I'v got the engine turning over with good compression but no spark. I have checked the coils and the pre pick up and all the wiring they are all coming back with the correct readings. could it be a fault with the clutch or side stand switch or even the ignition switch. Any help would be helpful.

On resetting my trip meter I somehow managed to flip my odo from miles to km. I have tried everything I can think of to get it back to miles. There is nothing in the owners or service manuals on this and I can find nothing on the web after several hours of searching. I have looked at other common ways to do this on Yams of a similar year (2009) but none work. I have tried: 1. Go into each of odo, trip 1 and trip 2 modes and then pressing and holding Select for everything up to 20 secs 2. Go into each of odo, trip 1 and trip 2 modes and then pressing and holding Reset for everything from a quick press to up to 20 secs 3. Go into each of odo, trip 1 and trip …

I have 2 CDI units for my Sr125, on the one unit the bike runs reliably but maxes out at 50mph and has poor acceleration. On the other Unit I will hit 60mph easily and acceleration is good, but after 12 miles misfires and becomes unrideable So, both units I believe are at fault. For the early unit 5HO-MO very few are available. For the later unit there are more on eBay. Q1 has anyone used a later unit on an earlier bike? Q2 has anyone found an alternative new manufactured CDI that will work well. thanks in advance for any replies Tom

Hi guys. Having problems setting the points on my 1973 TX500. Have previously had the head and therefore cam chain off but thought I had realigned to all the marks highlighted in the manual. Points hit T on backing plate for left cylinder TDC on compression stroke but points won't close ahead of the FL mark or open at the mark. They will approx 180 degrees where cam is moving from low to high? What have I done wrong in the rebuild?

  10. I am having some trouble re-working a yamaha cdi for a custom application. Would you possibly be able to tell me which wires go where for a typical yamaha 8 pin CDI for a 2 stroke? Nothing I try gives any spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi I'm having a problem with my xj600 "91reg" I've had to repair some wiring as a mouse has eaten some wires while its been off the road over the past 12 years. I have replaced a few parts on the Starter wiring and all i'm getting is the oil light and nothing else no clicks from the starter relay. Does anyone have any ideas where else to check or is it the ecu unit that's the problem.

Hi folks, i have a current drain of approx 0.3mA from my battery when the ignition is switched off. Here’s what I’v done so far: Live battery lead disconnected and meter connected in series between lead and battery with ignition off. 0.3 mA currrent observed. Pulled fuses one by one. When the fuse labelled “backup” fuse was disconnected the current drain dropped to about 0.03mA. ”backup” fuse feeds alarm and immobiliser and instrument light Alarm was disconnected and still draining 0.3mA. This would appear to point towards the immobiliser (or the inst light cluster which I have yet to eliminate). Regarding the immobiliser though 1) I can…

There are two different types of coils - those designed for a CDI (capacitor discharge ignition) and those for a TCI (transistor controlled ignition). A CDI isn't really bothered by the type of coil but a TCI is. If you use after-market coils designed for a CDI and you have a TCI - you will destroy the TCI. A simple check is to measure the primary coil resistance. About 2 ohm and it's made for a CDI. About 4 ohm and it's made for a TCI. Check your owners manual or the service manual to see what ignition you have. Lot's of Yamaha's use TCI. This comes from a bitter experience. I needed new coils for my wife's XVS250 and an after-market supplier sold coils with …

Hi there everyone, I'm new to the forum and have a question about fitting a remote start alarm. My son has a ybr125 efi 2015 and we have wired an alarm to the bike which that side works fine but we are unable to get the remote start to work. It will turn the engine over fine but wont start at all, we have been told it has something to do with the ignition to ecu wires. Has anyone managed to wire one up to actually work? Thank you Steve
