Been a biker since I was 17 and I love my old DT, I've had it since new in 1981. It used to be a 175 but is currently a 125 so that my son can learn to ride. Silly UK laws he would have been safe enough with the 175, but I guess they have to draw the line somewhere and he's just pleased to be mobile. Ive checked it out before he got on it after the head and barrel change. Seems a little bit sluggish but I'm used to the 175. Im thinking maybe needs re-jetting, but reluctant to do this without a bit more background knowledge. Its about run in now so thinking of refining the performance if I can, (Dont want it to be highly tuned just as good as it can be as a standard DT …

I've always looked around this site and decided it's finally time i joined... I've gone back to college after being in full time work for three years to study motorcycle mechanics, going great so far and learning things so fast! I have an XT125R, great little bike and so much fun! I've recently started modifying it (only the basics) so don't be surprised if i ask a load of annoying questions! I'd post a picture of my bike but i have no idea how to upload photos... Glad to be here!

hello all, just turning 30 and decided to by myself my first bike. I’ve brought my self a DT125 import with 5,000 miles on the clock. It looks mint but not knowing a lot about bikes is a bit daunting. My plan is to get the grips with this DT and move on to do my bike test later in the year and have a bit more choice on bikes. Any advice along the way will be appreciated from you guys!

Hi, I've followed the forum for about 3 years. This is my first post. I've got a XVS125, which I've been tinkering with and slowly getting it to my liking. I'm based in West Yorkshire, currently studying for a MEd in Psychology of Education, having worked with SEN for the last 8 years. I'm hoping to take my full license after I'm qualified, it's too expensive at the moment! I got back into the scene after having a bike at college, and finally being able to afford one again. Not a result of a mid life crisis, ahem, honestly. Really impressed how much the bike community has grown, gear improved and the quality of bikes since I first started riding in 1994. F…

  11. Started by Boogaloo Dan,

Hi, everyone, My name is Boogaloo Dan (not!) and I'd just like to say hello. I'm fifty-eight, have ridden all my 'adult' life (passed my test in '69 at the tender age of sixteen, and (big breath) have never owned a Japanese bike!). It's not that I ever thought of them as unworthy but when I picked up my first machine (a '68 BSA Starfire), I was told by the dealer (at Rusty's of Scunthorpe) to 'make the most of it, because there won't be a British motorcycle industry in five years...'. That kind of stuck with me. At the time my dad ran a CSR 650 Matchless, my mates all had British iron, and I'd just lost my girlfriend to Dave Dunk who owned... a twin cylind…

New member reporting in, already had some assistance from airhead in a previous post ( I jumped the gun a bit ) so here's the intro now. I've always been into bikes & have a few old & new(ish) ones - 1931 to 1983. A couple of newer trials bikes but I don't count them. Forums appear to be excellent & I've already gleaned a lot of good info. Oh, I'm in Northeast Scotland by the way. Dave

  13. Hello there, I'm Simon and I started a project bike, a DT250MX around a year ago. I was given the bike for free by a guy who's house I was working on. His wife was fed up with it leaning against the shed for the previous 4 years! I had it covered in my garden for a year before I dismantled it and put it in my loft to keep it dry and to stop the rot. I took it out of the loft about a year ago after I built myself a workshop (out of mainly recycled materials). Firstly I sanded the frame down and re-sprayed it with my friends spray equipment. I found out that I had been given some duff information about the primer when the paint started chipping off whenever a spanne…

  16. Started by Fest70,

Just a quick Hi, ive recently purchased a TT500 to restore so any pointers anyone can give me would be greatfully received. In particular how i can find out its date of manufacture as Yamaha can only tell me its a 1976 & i would like to register it for the road. I now have a summer of trawling ebay & auto jumbles, a bit like every other year really! Many thanks Steve

Hi Guys For someone in their late 40 I have never really bothered with bikes, but changes in circumstance and the rising cost of fuel forced me to re think my position. So with a little trepidation I have now booked my CBT and have just purchased a YBR125 Custom and I am now looking forward to my first ride. Got the basics Helmet, Jacket, trousers, gloves and boots, I know i need to look at security and probably a few other things but on a tight budget so any recommendations or even advice for a newbie. David
