Hello I just bought a 1981 Yamaha 550 Maxim and I want to customize it! The bike is stock and in great condition, but im really tall so I need to make adjustments as well as some cosmetic upgrades. Right now my handlebars are to small so I want to install 12inch ape hangers, I think its 7/8 bars but im not sure. Also all the switch housings, brake and clutch etc etc on the handlebars are broken and worn and I would like to replace EVERYTHING on the handlebars with CHROME! The speedometer works but the tac does not so I would also like to replace both with chrome as well. So my question is, where can I get these things and how do I know if it will wire up and fit? I don…

Hello to all on the forum! I ride a vstar 1100, 09 model. My chariot & I have covered some 35,000K from East to West and around Australia in the past 12 months. She is a lovely steed and we have met a lot of really wonderful people on our travels. Many who think that because I am female and travel mostly on my own, that I am very brave! Hate to disalusion them so these days just agree! I joined this forum to ask questions of the technically minded and to enjoy what other riders have experienced.

I am from Romania. I ride a Yamaha xs 400 12E DOHC from 1984. I need help. I was rejected at the technical insepction because the tyres are not the same as in the tehnic book. it must be for front wheel 3.00 - 18 and 4.10 - 18 on the rear wheel. I did not find such rubber to buy, so I am afraid that I would not be allowed to ride my bike on the street. Can somebody help me please?

Hello everyone! As my user name suggests, I am a bit of a late starter having only recently passed my CBT at the age of 28, never ridden a bike before! Better late than never though eh.. I took a few lessons on a 500cc and failed the MOD1 test a few weeks back so decided to get a 125 and get a bit of experience on two wheels before going back to try again! Anyway, yesterday a nice gentleman delivered my first ever bike for me! A 1997 Yamaha SR125. He had it MOT'd yesterday morning and a new battery put on it. It only has 4418 miles on the clock and seems to me to be in fantastic condition for its age. I've yet to go out for a spin on it though as I can't …

New member, old rider here. My 22 yr old daughter has a 1988 Route 66 250, now called the Virago 250, which she never rides and wanted to sell. I rode it a few times and realized how much I miss riding, so I am buying it from her. Back when she was a newborn I had to give up riding, as it is difficult to transport an infant on a motorcycle! I sold my Kawasaki KZ550 shortly after she was born. The suburbs aren't really the best place to ride, so this bike is really just for errands and back street use. My son will be driving age in a few months, and this bike will be perfect for his commute to high school a mile from home, or to his friends houses nearby.

Hello folksJust coming back to Motorcycling after a 25yr layoff, bit of a mid life crisis maybe.Bought myself a 1998 UK FZ750, only 25,000 miles, taxed and MOT. It's a runner, all original apart from wheels and brakes which are from a later Yamaha - can get better rubber, which is no bad thing.Anyway, not scared about fettling it, but would be handy to get a Haynes manual or the like if these things exist. Or available as download from somewhere? Any advice? One last (stupid?) question. Back in the day when this was new, we used to be able to buy unleaded. Would this machine required unleaded back then, and hence an additive nowadays?Looking forward to your help etc.B…

Hi everyone, my name is Vladimir and I live in Scotland, Glasgow, as you can guess by my name I am not Scottish but lived here for a while now. I bought my Yamaha Thundercat (1999) with 20000miles on a clock 3 years ago (now almost 25k) as my 1st bike, the bike needed some TLC even though it had one owner before me for 13 years. Last year I did a full service on it myself, thanks to youtube help! Changed standard screen for a double babble and bought an aftermarket silencer/exhaust can. Also when bought I changed front fork seals as these were sweaty, changed rear subframe as it was really rusty and ugly, couple weeks ago I put new tyres (Michelin GT4)…

I currently own my third Yamaha, it's a YBR250. I used to have a YBR125G, which was a really awesome bike. I once drove it over 10`000KM from Shanghai to Thailand during one Month of time. Unfortunately I had to drop it in the desert of Inner Mongolia, because my friend had an accident and broke his arm there, so I had to get him out in some kind of emergency way, and I couldn't take the bike with me. Now I bought the YBR250 and use it every day. I'm totally happy with it.
