Hi all. So I bought my first yamaha. Its an xt125x and im liking it a lot so far. Its not the fastest bike in the world at 65 -70 but its good enough for my 6 days a week commuting to college and work in London ( Great town bike). Bought full Arrow exhaust system for it which made a little difference to performance and makes a good sound. Spits flame and pops which is awesome . Up jet to 17.5 pilot jet. Ticks over far smoother and easier starting. Also up jet to 110 jet however this showed no improvement on its own as I havent drilled any extra holes in air box cover ( removing it is to much air). Recently my speed sensor broke so I need to buy a new one and the quality o…

Hi everyone, I am new here, and new to using forums in general. I have been riding for almost 2 years and currently own a 2010 YBR 125. I feel I would like to stick with Yamaha, over the past 2 years I have trained on a FZ6 and XJ6 and loved both of them. I have always been an amateur engineer, not so bad when I am fixing PC's/DVD players, but figured I would join for advice from more experienced people as if I mess up it could be painful!

Hello all, I apologise for this post being late as I have already intruded upon this forum with questions prior to introducing myself, but better late then never. My names Tom, I'm 21 and recently passed my CBT. I am looking at doing my full bike test however for the time being im just enjoying my 125 and learning the ropes of motorcycling. I also own a car and have been driving for a couple of years now so have some appreciation of the road. I have an interest in mechanics and work with electronics which is very handy. I recently carried out an engine swap on my bike which after much sweating and swearing, i managed to get it going and road worthy. Im current…

Hi there. I have a TZR 50 that's had a big bore kit put in, with new crank shaft. It was done after a previous owner blew the engine up. I bought it with the big bore kit etc and have ridden the very first mile it rode. I have a problem with it now though. I'm desperate for help and can't think of what else I could try. I have tried a fair bit and have spent some wonga on it. But it just won't run. Please help

Hey Guys, How's everyone doing? Liberating my Mk1 '86 RD125LC from the depths of my garage where its been in storage for the last 6 or so years. Spent a weekend de-gunking her and resetting the carb/floats, stripping the carb completely. Checking jetting and the likes. Before she was stored i had a major problem of bogging in 3/4 to full throttle. Which is a problem when that powerband is just so damn addictive. Its obvious now im a little older and wiser what was wrong. The air mix screw was stuck to such an extent that it took hacksawing a new groove into it to get a bit more purchase onto it. Also a couple of brass nipples had fallen off leaving holes in…

Hello! I joined this site in hopes that i can garner the wisdom of other classic Yamaha owners. I was just given a FREE 1975 Yamaha XS500B and being a home mechanic, need all the help i can get to bring some life into this long dormant bike. I am now a 2 Yamaha household, the other being a 1980 SR500 that is a blast to ride. The wife has already claimed the XS as her own, she likes the electric start button. Thanks for the support and i look forward to asking lots of questions on the forum.

Hi everyone, figured id drop in and introduce myself. This is my '78 Yamaha XS400. It is my first motorcycle. I got it from a neighbor for free(+$70 for a set of new Avon tires), and plan on fixing it up and turn the styling towards "street fighter." The master cylinder is broken, clutch cable seems to be disconnected or something, it probably needs to be completely rewired since the fusebox is currently in an Altoids tin, and it starts to turn over--but not quite and pours gas out when trying to start(likely a carb issue i think), but I do believe it was running before it was parked because of the master cyl. Its been sitting in my garage for a month or t…

I have just joined and I'd just like to say hello. I have 7 bikes, 4 running. Let's start from youngest to oldest: 2015 BMW S1000R Sport; 2001 Suzuki 1200 Bandit; 1996 Yamaha TRX850; 1980 Moto Guzzi V50; 1970 BSA Thunderbolt; 1969 BSA Thunderbolt with '66 Spitfire engine; 1959 Royal Enfield 250 Crusader Sports. I have included a picture of the TRX, although it now has a black repaired fairing after a coming together with a pheasant at 90mph. The bike runs well but pops through the right exhaust once warm, I have checked the exhaust for leaks, Sorted the valve clearances, fixed a crack in the plastic cover on the side of the right hand carb and replaced vacuum pi…

Had the chance last week to purchase a Yamaha XV535DX Virago last week, it was my wife's late Uncle's, it's a 2001, he was second owner from 2004. It is in mint condition (only done 14 mile from last July 2018, and 7300 miles in total. It's a great little bike to ride and enjoy. Just have a couple of questions for some help/Advice please. Q1. Unfortunately it did not come with a steering lock key (her Aunty can't find it), have tried finding somewhere to get a replacement key but no luck, have seen sets on ebay for compete set of Tank Cap, Helmet Lock, Ignition & Steering Lock but they seem a bit cheap £29 !. Or a steering lock from a bike store for £28 but how t…
