Hello all! Does anyone know of a good garage qualified to service Yamaha motorcycles? I'm on holiday in the Harwich area and experiencing problems with starting my bike. Seems to be a case of a fuel-flooded engine and dirty filter after driving intensely for 3 days in rain, but I would like to ensure that all is as it should be before continuing on my road trip. All good tips appreciated. Thanks!

Just bought this bike 1997 model, (I know its not much of a bike, but all I could afford) It's ok so far, apart from the accelerator stays on full sometimes when idle, cant see anything wrong with the cable and the handle itself moves ok. Also there doesnt seem to be much of a back brake, although the pads should be fine, just had mot. Having just passed cbt, (at 50!) these two things are making riding difficult ie: having to slowly release the clutch to stop it revving when stopped in traffic and just using the front brake, especially down steep hills is a little hairy..also have had to use front brake whilst setting off from a hill junction (not quite sure ho…

Hi, just joined the site and thought I'd drop in to introduce myself. I've got a few old Brit bikes but recently bought the TZR 50 for my son (his first bike). Not sure how to find my way around the site yet - so apologies if this is the wrong place, but I could do with a bit of advice on the TZR. Does anyone know what the little valve unit is for - it is at the end of the stainless steel pipe that branches off from the exhaust pipe? Which way around is it connected? Thanks in anticipation :-) Mike.

Hi all. I am new to bikes, so can anybody tell me what the rubber hose connecting the engine to the exhaust is actually there for. I have been told that if I want my bike to make noise I can take that hose off because it will do no damage if it is not connected.

Hi =) I have a Yamaha WR500 from 1993, and have had a little accident where the chain broke pieces from the block .. Is there anyone here who knows a lot about Yamaha YZ490/WR500 engines? I need to replace this block, but it is impossible to find used WR500 parts. I have sometimes seen on e-bay that there are YZ490 parts I may can use, but then I'm not sure which models are the same as my WR? Another thing I wondered was if there are any parts that I can use from the YZ490, which can increase the effect on the WR500? All information will be received with thanks! If someone have an engine, or the part I need for sale, or know where I can buy it "not to…

Hi to all you bikers I am new here I have a problem with cylinder 3 that wont run, temp on exhaust manifold is aprox. 60degree C and the other ones are 300degree C. I have tried to clean the carbs, swobbed the ignition cables 2 to 3, swobbed the sparkplugs.... when I look down in the sparkplug hole I can see gasoline on the piston... I asumed that when cylinder 2 has a spark then cylinder 3 also would have... Hope that anyone of you can help me Thanks.. Regards Henrik

Hello all I am new to this forum and have a 1978 XS250. The bike is a runner but difficult to start, It spent 6 weeks in a m/c repair shop having the voltage regulator changed and the carbs sonic cleaned along with some other diagnostic work. Eventually I just collected it as they were unable to find the starting fault and suggested new carbs. The bike it seems at some point had 400 barrels and pistons fitted. The carbs are as far as I can tell still 250 original. I have stripped and cleaned them and had the sonic cleaned but still have starting issues. Since collecting the bike I have spent quite a lot of time myself stripping, cleaning and setting up the carbs, also che…
